Round Rock Toyota, just north of Austin TX, has a silver P.Prime Advanced for sale! That's where ours is on order. Exactly what we ordered except we'd prefer pearl white or red. Hard to pass it up, but we'll wait...

Still, we just took a test drive: Very solid, confident, clean, and competent car! Pretty quiet too; not extremely quiet, but quiet. Didn't get to drive it on EV though; wasn't charged up, unfortunately. Undoubtedly substantially quieter still on EV.

The active-safety features I can easily imagine, in five years, becoming one of those "you mean people drove cars for over a hundred years without automatic emergency braking, or lane-departure warning?!"

Radar adaptive cruise control perhaps even more so. That'll really take a lot of stress out of my commute!

Oh, and I'll also add that flooring it in power mode was actually surprisingly punchy!

Silver is what I am waiting for. Should be here by end of the month. I know how hard it is to pass up on.

Wait until you floor it in EV Power mode. It's actually impressive.

Ah, I wasn't sure whether EV operation also had its own eco vs. normal vs. power modes.

When I was test driving Primes (I drove 3 different models at 3 dealers), I liked the car, but neither one was charged. Driving it in EV modes is a completely different experience (at least for me). I love it and charge every chance I get (even got a 240V charger for my house). Toyota would sell a ton more Primes, if dealers bothered charging demo cars.

EV mode has the same Eco-Normal-Power modes as HV. I drive in Eco almost exclusively. However, when I encounter someone who thinks they can take me over at a light (usually a Ford, somehow), I switch to Power EV mode and leave that car in a dust.

Congrats! Austin will be a great city to ride a Prime. Those hill country highway can take advantage of regeneration break to recycle energy.
Got my prius 2008 from round rock toyota back then. Charles Maund dealer was a joke not sure if they get better.
I remember Austin city had a program with Chevy Volt in Mueller park. Resident took huge discount on buying Volt back in 2011? It has been a while.

Thanks! Austin, the "tiny blue dot in a sea of red," has a number of excellent EV incentives, especially $50/year to charge at most of the ChargePoint stations around town (including those at my place of work), and reimburse you for half of the cost of a home level-2 charger and its installation. It helps make up for the lack of incentive from the State of Texas.
