I am afraid I will never get such results here in Poland. People drive aggressively here and don't care about the money they could save by driving more efficiently but, on the other hand, they complain about high gas prices. You just have to keep up with the traffic here and press the gas pedal more. My best last week was 4.4 L/100 km (about 54 MPG). Maybe also because of the cold weather. I hope to improve once it gets warmer. Wish I could test my Prius on QEW or 401 :)

You're away to the races with a Fuelly account! (y)

Track it yourself too, maybe with a spreadsheet, best of both worlds. And websites come-n-go.

    This might work for you:

Question to more experienced hypermilers. When you start off from the green light at an intersection, do you start off gently or hit the gas pedal quickly until you reach the desired speed and then coast/glide? Like I mentioned before, people here drive more aggressively and I don't want to be left behind. I usually drive in ECO mode in the city.

I read the traffic. If I can stay within the ECO area of the HSI, I'll try but if traffic is accelerating (wanting to accelerate) faster, then I'll go into the PWR band. Either way, it's ok since the PWR band on the HSI roughly corresponds to 2,000rpm on the low end to 3,000rpm when it's fully lit.

Thanks for the hints. I think it will come with time and experience. For me this is a huge leap forward anyway after driving a Nissan Murano for the last 5 years. In comparison Prius is really fuel efficient. I am glad that I made the switch.

Would be nice if you added price per mile.
    That's an informative figure.

@Prodigyplace is right. I cheat. Fuelly doesn't let you take electricity into account, so it's inflated. Your 75 mpg best is amazing in my book.

So far, according to my really complex spreadsheet, I'm averaging 51.44 mpg in hybrid mode after four fill ups. My average cost per mile so far, including gas and the electricity I've had to pay for is about 3.36 cents per mile or $3.36 per 100 miles. That cost is probably due at least as much to cheap electricity, charging for free at work and sometimes at church, and the cheap gas here as it is to driving skill. ;)

What was your best mileage with your former Prius?( the non-cheating one)

It was a 2nd Gen with 121k when I got it and 149k when I sold it, so not as efficient as yours. Best tank was 60.1, but I think that may have been an incomplete fill because the one before was only 38.5. I averaged about 49 mpg over the 2-1/4 years I drove it. The traffic lights here are specially configured to make you get to 60 mph as fast as you can and then slam on your brakes in about one or two miles. Rarely do I get to go more than two minutes without stopping. It's the worst traffic engineering I've ever seen. I actually got better mileage on trips to Ohio on the interstate.
