Friend of mine has just bought a 2014 prius from dealer, when he got it home we noticed something odd on the rear right door, it looks to me that the door is off a different model but can anybody say what. 1488985655217.jpg

It's called a window trim. Not sure if it's the type of models or not but mine doesn't have that part pointing down, it's straight. Also check the door for the Vin placard and the window glass to see if it say Toyota on it, if it doesn't have the word Toyota, then it's not the original part.

Also, is it the same on the other side? Or is it only on one side?

That's a belt molding. If it's loose, it was probably removed for a repair. Replacement is about $40

No, the OP is talking about the indentation in the metal sheet. maybe defective part, maybe s/p repair.

I would compare the right side with the left side and see if it's the same or not, if not, then it was probably replaced with the wrong part.

It looks to me the door skin was replaced. No way it came from the factory like that.

Different from other side, but why the indentation. If its a different model or spec what is it....... I've not seen another one like it. Don't think it's a door skin looks like whole door was replaced. He's going back to Toyota with it but the more info on the part the better.

Yeah, I'd think you'd have to ask Toyota. I can't see any third party door fitting, especially that well. But that's clearly no accident and clearly not right, even though it looks nice and smooth & shiny in the pictures. If someone did that to it under a shade tree, it's amazing work and without any apparent reason. (n)

Yeah right away I'm thinking bodywork. Look closely for overspray, other tell-tale signs? Not the end of the world, but looks a little odd.

Friendly, what do you mean by "s/p"?

I just walked outside and looked at my '14. It does not look like the picture. Maybe an older model door looks that way?

Even OP's other side door doesn't look like the pic.

That is standard American (or U.S.A.-nian) 'English'. Maybe you speak a different dialect that more closely matches real (or The Queen's) English? :)

Your neighbors to the south diverged longer ago, and are charting their own course. We are not accepting guidance from the rest of the English world. Today, for better or worse (or maybe just worse), it seems we are actively rejecting it. :-(

    From the online Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

    Definition of present ...
    transitive verb ...
    intransitive verb
    ...
3 : to come forward as a patient
    ...
