■When continually using EV mode only After driving for approximately 124 miles (200 km) with the gasoline engine off, the gasoline engine may start for a short amount of time in order to protect the system.

I can't find anything similar in the Prime manual, which was my point.

So the fact that Toyota left it out means there is no "engine maintenance?"

No, the fact that it's not in there means we don't have a written reference. It could be in there and not documented.

Example: Accelerating to over 35 mph and then hard braking into a traffic light or sharp corner, all in the first half mile of full battery start - may trigger the ICE. This is only an example.
The system may be more sensitive to the above in cold temps.

Can we assume that when ICE kicks in for whatever reason that the "engine maintenance" clock resets to zero miles and starts the 124 mile interval over again?

I try not to assume anything, but I think any timer would reset if the engine started for any reason.

In my case I slowly accelerated to 35 MPH then when approaching the light 3 blocks away I coast to a stop and gently apply the brakes, and sometimes if I see the light is red I do not accelerate to 35 MPH I drive 25-30 MPH to the light. And what about everybody else flooring the gas and ICE does not come on for them?

You're in South Carolina? Try Michigan weather for a change :D

It's not specifically listed in the Prime manual, but it is covered here.
●When the system determines that the gasoline engine needs to be started. The gasoline engine may also operate in circumstances other than those listed above, depending on conditions.

That could do it in the first two blocks (depending on blocks' length).

    What about them?

That's a catch-all, and it doesn't specifically cover any engine maintenance mode. And even if it did, we wouldn't know from that statement if it's calendar time, driving distance or how much of either.

■Gasoline engine operation in EV/EV auto mode Even if there is a sufficient amount of electricity remaining in the hybrid battery (traction battery) and EV driving range (→P. 199, 215, 222, 239) is being displayed on the multi-information display etc., EV driving (driving using only the electric motor) may be canceled and both gasoline engine and electric motor are used depending on the situation (EV driving will be returned to automatically after EV driving becomes possible again). EV driving may be canceled automatically in the following circumstances: ●When vehicle speed is more than approximately 84 mph (135 km/h). ●When power is needed temporarily, for example when the accelerator pedal is depressed firmly or when accelerating suddenly.* ●When the temperature of the hybrid system is high. The vehicle has been left in the sun, driven on a hill, driven at high speeds, etc. ●When the temperature of the hybrid system is low. ●When the heater is switched on when the outside temperature is below about 14°F (-10°C). ●When the windshield defogger switch is pressed. (→P. 491, 501) ●When the system determines that the gasoline engine needs to be started. The gasoline engine may also operate in circumstances other than those listed above, depending on conditions. *: When traveling in the EV auto mode only ■Conditions in which the gasoline engine may not stop The gasoline engine starts and stops automatically. However, it may not stop automatically in the following conditions*: ●During gasoline engine warm-up ●During hybrid battery (traction battery) charging ●When the temperature of the hybrid battery (traction battery) is high or low ●When the windshield defogger switch is pressed. (→P. 491, 501) *: Depending on the circumstances, the gasoline engine may also not stop automatically in situations other than those above.
