    The article says:

White: Pure, virginal, clean, youthful, mild, peace, truthfulness, enlightenment(n)

Black: Sophistication, elegance, seduction, mystery, sex, banishment, binding, protection, evil(y)

    Grey: Neutrality, staleness, depression:ROFLMAO:

    Black seems more interesting.

If that's the case - I should have got GREY.

We got Classic Silver Metallic because it was the only one on the lot with package we wanted. It was at the back of the lot, all dusty, and they had to move a bunch of others to get to it. Our colour preference was white, and the pearlescent white was a close second, but again none on the lot in an acceptable package. Silver grew on us though. :)

I guess I should assume that USA's Blizzard Pearl is the same that TOYOTA calls Crystal Pearl here in Australia?

I was always advised to avoid the mental trap of Black and White thinking!

Re Lime Green Thermotec, apart from thinking it doesn't look that great I think it's over hyped. All its does its give you the same thermal benefits that White has.

Go for the White, I'd say. But avoid driving in snow, not quite so visible then! No colour is the perfect one for all circumstances.

Yes, but the Lime Green is distinctive - OK, OK - so PRIUS is distinctive already.

I read somewhere that TOYOTA stated that because of the composition of the Lime Green Thermo-tect paint there could be durability issues and was also not as easy to apply, not sure why, though I seem to remember that it was something like a 3 stage application process? Hence the home market advantage - in Japan, a 5 year old car is very old, so durability isn't a problem for the initial owner.

It isn't the only heat-reflective paint, some paint protection products purport to increase reflection, but I've not seen any test results. A clean, polished car may improve solar reflection too.

Red; psychologically renowned for being exciting! And it was the preferred colour chosen for most Toyota Prius advertising. 'Nuff said.

I generally go by Eastern Standard Australian time - unless I feel the need to sleep in, in which case I have the liberty in retirement to revert to GMT for a while.

It's just turned 11:00pm, so I'm off to bed now.

In truth, the concern about dark cars getting hotter would be correct if the car had no windows. The greenhouse effect of shortwave sunlight turning to long wave heat in side the car accounts for almost all the interior heat.

Ah, yes... incidental heat gains through building windows are great for heating up, but conversely lose heat more rapidly than bricks after dark.

I am interested in what you saying. Windows though can be shaded, and in hit weather we do that. But the body colour can't be varied to fit the weather.

I find the anecdotal evidence of the earlier post saying that their white car was far cooler than their black one, interesting, and one that needs consideration and an explanation as to why this should be the experience if the body colour makes no difference in practice.

Autotrader - a black and a white SUV left parked side by side.

    • The black car's cabin measured a scorching 130 degrees Fahrenheit, while the white car's interior registered only 113 degrees ...
    • Which one cools down faster once the air conditioning is cranked? Once again, we broke out the thermometer and discovered that the interior of the white car cooled to 84 degrees after 10 minutes, while the black car was still at 91 degrees.
