Has anyone used Park Assistance to back into your garage? If so what do you do?

Since it requires starting near but perpendicular to the bay, it's usually a non-starter. Perhaps it's easier for some driveway configurations? Either way, it needs two reference points, so you're looking for a single-width garage door or a double with another car already parked.

Not generally recommended; I haven't tried.

FYI, It only needs one reference point and it will park close to whatever is on that side.

Don't use it for your garage! It's mean't for parking spaces in the open. I wouldn't trust it to clear the opening and the sidewalls in mine.

Backing into a (typical) garage can lead to CO buildup if the car is left to idle too long. It should be okay if you're just going to start it and pull out.

Yeah, my exhaust pipe would be right next to my gas central heating and water heater. Yikes! Ka-boom!

This is correct for conventional ICE engine car. In a hybrid like Prius the reverse gear is pure electrical.

I think the point is that when backing in the exhaust may exist within the garage air in higher concentrations and is often closer to the entrance to the house interior. That's compared to head-in parking which puts the tail pipe near the exterior perimeter, facing out the big wide hole you drove through.

Granted, the Prius not only uses electricity for reverse but does it's best to shut off the ICE during reverse (since it adds torque in the wrong direction in that case). Still, even in a Prius, the engine can idle and WILL run even in reverse, depending on the HV SOC%.

As long as the garage door is open and you don't leave it running unnecessarily, it should be OK!(y)

ICE will also run when the engine is cold, so it could start up when driving out of the garage next day if reversed in.

Again, very true, but if you don't loiter and the door is open you won't have a problem.
