    Wow, that's so sad.

How about changing the thread title to something a bit more descriptive?

After decades with my wife and her 'problems' with new cars, I used to think I should just drive the car home and hand her a baseball bat so I wouldn't have to wonder when 'it' would happen.

In the 1960s, our family was on one of marathon, driving vacation and drove through Boston:
    • horns were always honking somewhere
    • all cars were dented, even new ones
I love my wife, still do, but she has a different approach to driving and appointments.

Unhappy photo, but it does not look like a bad repair. In fact, all the lights look intact so this might only be a case of replacing the side fender.

My wife has made it clear that she never wants a new car because she knows how hard she is on her autos. She currently drives a 2003 Pilot with 77000 miles. I keep it perfectly maintained mechanically, but it's a mess cosmetically.

She views cars like an appliance. So she doesn't really care how it looks as long as it works when she needs it.

I do repair any heavy damage that occurs, or that needs attention due to safety concerns. Other than that, our arrangement works.

For drivers that can't really know where is the each edge of the car should drive nothing bigger than Fiat little car...or stay out of the driving at all....this not only cost but it will raise your insurance rate...it doesn't matter your fault or not they will charge you more if you use insurance to cover...

I had a similar thing happen to my 2013 PiP. It cost $3500. Replaced the whole bumper, cover, foam etc...

    Cars come and go.
Spouses, properly chosen, are a more permanent arrangement.

Find a body shop, call the insurance company and remember that magic three-word-phrase that will get you through this:

    ...Are you OK?

I take it back -- two pieces.
The side fender and the lower bumper. Still, not too bad if the interior components and lights are fine.

The lower bumper is the same black color for all models, so perhaps it will come pre-painted from the factory. I'll guess about $750-$1000 for the two parts, and then the cost of painting the fender.

I recently damaged this exact area on another car, but the fender and front bumper were one piece and 3rd party parts were available. I paid $80 for the part, about $25 for paint, and $12 for glue to repair a plastic hinge. Removal and installation were pretty easy after I watched a you tube video.

    Sounds about right to me.

    I get an uncomfortable couch;
    She gets an entire room.

$2500ish if no fender and headlight involvement. Looks like it needs the cover (maybe the absorber), grill, left fog light assembly (which is really expensive but not as much as the headlight), probably the obstacle sensor in the cover too. It will be back to perfect in no time!:)
