Not only it costs 9500€ more than the Prius (base trim vs base trim) with essentially the same base features, but it also looks like a regular Prius inside:
Toyota, Prius Plug-in Hybrid, Übersicht, Hybrid - 302,56 € /Monat (one before last pic - I cannot link it directly - sorry) - here a copy:

The trim with solar panels, costs 40k€ - even with 3k€ German State discount, it is still too expensive to make any business sense - you would need to drive thousands of km in EV mode only to compensate the costs (here 1kW/h electricity costs 25€c).

At first I was also disappointed at price in my country (same price as Germany), but from the start they offer €3,500 discount and we get €4,500 government grant and base equipment is more like second trim on regular Prius. So when you consider all this it's only 1k more compared to regular Prius and you get a plug, matrix LED ...

I wouldn't worry too much about little things missing in the end it all comes down to price and if they wan't to sell as much as they are planing (target is 1 million in product life) prices will come down.

Just wait until the Ioniq Plug-in hits the market, its not quite as clean due to its direct injection ICS,won't be as efficient as a Prius PHV,even if claimed so,but has a way bigger boot,is a five seater, won't have Matrix LED but on the other hand has an electric seat with memory, heated front- and back seats, ventilated front seats, the better LKA-System and will be significantly cheaper !
Toyota will have to react to that,so I guess they will give us some kind of hybrid-discount as they gave us for the regular Prius which went down from 28.000 to 25000 € .

But on German market where nobody buys Asian, I don't think there will be no market share to fight for.
Although the planned bans on diesel...maybe...might start that....
Still current is not that cheap, at 25€c/kWh

You may be right, but they definitely reacted to the Ioniq Hybrid which is still and at market entrance was even more significantly cheaper than the Prius before Toyota gave us the so called hybrid-discount .
The Prius,at least in my eyes,is still the Hybrid-Champion to beat,so I guess Toyota is entitled to charge a bit more than their competitors.

Keep in mind that the Euro Prius is also available with NiMH only, which could allow Toyota to offer it at a lower price than in other markets.

For people in EU ....i would go on BMW I3 Rex
    Why?
Simply because Hybrid battery management is more advanced and it will outlast air cooled system on Toyota
And with little investment on solar panels to charge BMW in the long run it will definitely make good choice

I guess that doesn't make a big difference and with all the features I mentioned considering the upcoming Ioniq Plug-in one must not forget that the Prime/Prius PHV also has some the Ioniq doesn't have.
Such as Auto-Parking,ICS ,R (oad) S (ign) A (ssist) and of course the HUD,which by the way Toyota has messed up in Europe by removing the capability of showing nav-info so I guess it comes down to personal preferences.

There are two cars up to now which have the ugliest dashboard design in my eyes.
One is the I3 and the other is Model 3 if it stays the way we have so far seen it !
Hard to believe the I3 is actually made by BMW, the dashboard just looks so cheap !
