Had this done at Auto Nation in the SE Denver area 4/20/17. It took 6 hours while I waited to do the airbag, the 10k service, and the emergency (er...parking) brake recall.

I was uncomfortable with the idea of disassembling the dash. The service writer was reassuring saying that they put their very top mechanic on the job.
So far so good. The only discrepancy I found was a black grease smudge on the dash, no rattles, and all functions are fine.

Less reassuring was that the service writer told me this was their first time doing this procedure. When I signed the three page list of work done, there was a second stapled stack beneath it that had to be about ten pages thick. I asked about that, and the Service told me that was the report they were sending to Toyota, saying that "they learned a lot" doing the work on my car. I looks like they got it right the first time, which is a relief considering how chancy competent maintenance seems to be these days.

Unrelated side note . . . I asked that they disarm the red panic button on the FOB. They did it on my former Prius c, but they hooked it up to the computer said that is not an option on the 2016.

very disappointing to have to do this on a new car, and no compensation. toyota quality is really going downhill.

I don't recall a airbag recall on the 2016 Prius. Was it for all models or a select few cars?

It was only for a group of cars built late in 2015 and early 2016. Apparently there was a suspicious batch from one supplier (not Takara). My car was one that needed the replacement . Although my dealership had done it before, they managed to not reconnect the radio antenna and GPS cables. By the time I picked up the car, there was no mechanic around to actually do the fix, but they were able to do it the next morning (I live only about a mile from my dealership). Apparently, there are 16 cables to reconnect when reassembling the dashboard. I can imagine it's like the back of my home A/V/ receiver.
