Prius v and the AT package...questions for those who own it or know it.

    But you trade LKA for the panoramic moonroof and you still have PCS which I think is a great safety feature. Active safety features help you avoid an accident in the first place.

    dynamic cruise and pcs are great features

    personally, i never use lka. always beeping when it loses and finds the stripes on the road. very touchy about having to give it just enough manual steering input, but not too much.

    My partners 2010 package 5 with ATP's pre-collision seat belts or brake-priming (brake assist?) aren't working. Back in 2010 when I had a package 5 with ATP, I remember I could tap the brakes very quickly as if in an emergency, and it would really lay them on (I'm guessing that's the brake-assist sensing the speed in which I hit the brakes?), along with sucking up the seat belts.

    My partners 2010 5 with ATP has 92,000 miles and is in decent shape other can a scuff here and there. The brake pads are kinda low. Which I don't know if that would make a difference. I take it the previous owner was brake happy. But when I do the same thing in his, the brakes don't feel primed as if the brake-assist is working. Nor do the seat belts retract like they did in my 2010. I tried it while using DRCC on a clear road at 60 mph even with nothing.

    There's no warning lights on the dash, and the car seems to drive okay. We replaced the 12v battery last week as the one that was in it was the original and reading 11.6v. But it still doesn't work or feel as sharp when I press the brakes quickly.

    It can be tricky but it basically looks at the rapid release of the accelerator and how quickly the brake pedal was pressed after releasing the accelerator.

    As long as there's no PCS warning light, you can assume it's working.

    Thanks! Yesterday actually, we were driving up very steep streets and for some reason, the PCS thought we were going to hit something, so (I'd say we were maybe going 25?) it flashed the word "BRAKE!" on the MID and the PCS light flashed rapidly in sync with the rapid beeping. It did that for a solid 3-4 seconds, though it never applied the brakes nor did it tighten the seat belts? I was fishy that something wasn't right before when I tried to demonstrate the "brake assist" feature and "pre-collision seat belt" with no success.

    Moving my foot off the accelerator pedal and onto the brake pedal very rapidly and somewhat hard doesn't give me any extra brake boost or that initial strong "grab" like it did in my other 2010? In my 2016 and in my old 2010, I can tap the brakes very fast and hard and before you know it, you're picking your face off of the windshield along with the seat belts doing their thing to keep me safe.

    We bought the car three weeks ago, and it has two different sets of tires. There was a page in the manual about having mixed tires on Prius, which wasn't really good. I wonder if it's really affecting things? Or could be affecting the brake assist function in the braking system?

    P.S., dropped it off at the dealer this morning to have the intermediate steering shaft replaced. I told them about my concern with the pre-collision seat belts and brakes. He said they'd "check it out." Not sure what they would be able to find or see though.

    That sounds like normal operation to me. I've had that BRAKE! message show up a few times (when it detects the metal bridge expansion joints or when I change lanes because someone is turning left). Only once (bridge) did the seat belts tighten. The other times, it just flashed brake but for maybe a second or two. Def not 3-4 secs.

    We'll see what the dealer said. Hopefully it is all fine and dandy and there isn't an issue with PCS seat belts
