Got VIN verification, sent to Illinois. They deleted the title they issued so in theory my car can be registered.

But Illinois DMV does not communicate with CA. DMV, so CA still has my car as sold in Illinois. Can't be registered

Now I need Illinois to send info to CA DMV before my registration expires on May 10th.

    To be continued......

Conference call with CA DMV & IL DMV?
I had to do something similar when I paid off my mortgage. The county kept trying to blame the bank. Somehow when I conferenced them together, they worked it out.

    Time is running short.!

Four days? For a reply from Gov't service? LMAO.

I worked for a certain southwestern State gov't agency in a state that does not border the Ocean. I ordered notebooks, tabs and copy paper for a project that required 150 3-inch binders. Due to the fact that I needed more than 12 binders, the Purchase Request required special processing and approval. The day after the project was delivered (6 months and 13 days after the order was placed) the materials arrived. Now there is no where to sit in my office as the warehouse won't take the items back.

I've lost track of the number of problems I've had, due to forms asking for your name, but not clarifying which is first and second name...

Everything fixed, I now have my car ownership status back. It took multiple calls going back and forth but at the end, it all worked out. The error was fixed and my life is back to normal.

No apologies from the Illnois agencies, sounded like they did me a favor at the end.

identity theft always puts the burden on the victim, not the facilitator. it's not right.

Yeah baby. I bet somebody got a look at that 'cute puppy' of yours and decided to take a small step in direction of self-preservation.

I don't really know it's fraud that happened in this case, it might just be a case of human laziness and not doing their job.

Whenever an out of state vehicle gets registered, there has to be a VIN verification done. This is the check to make sure all is correct before the car gets registered into another state. This however was supposedly done in my case, where someone had verified the VIN before the new title was issued.

So call it what you want, it's a system that had the proper check for fraud, yet it was missed because whoever that was doing it, didn't do their job.

My little puppy is very friendly. Not sure why you think he would scare anyone.

My daughter has a similar 'puppy' whose main threat to humans is knocking them over from the unbridled joy of having somebody new in the house to pet him.......UNLESS......
Named "Tyson" (get it?) he was a scratch-and-dent rescue puppy, adopted too late to have his tail docked........and it remains one of his more intimidating features, besides a window-rattling bark.

Tyson literally has been ridden like a rental pony, scolded like a boot camp recruit, and had soggy toaster pastries, biscuits (both kind), and plush toys snatched from his maw by an angry 3-year old, 2-foot, blue-eyed blonde who probably weighs about as much as one of his front legs.

.....however (comma!!!) I've learned to make DANG SURE that Tyson is behind a stout door when I attempt to scold that baby, or play with her in a manner that might cause ANY doubt as to her well-being!!!!!

    ....."not scare anyone" indeed......

Yes I was fortunate that I didn't lose my car title. If I did, then the car would not being to me anymore.
