Can vehicles be ordered custom from Toyota? I've spoken with several dealers of late and have gotten a mixed story. Having tried ordering a Prius Prime in Idaho, as a non-preferred State, it seems only shot at reserving one is via a preferred State.

-One said you CAN'T order a custom car from Toyota; they build cars and people pick from a lot and reserve them as-built by Toyota.

-Another said once you reserve a car, you can request a feature be changed added if caught early enough.

-Yet another said "I've requested changes to cars multiple times and Toyota has always denied it".

Has anyone successfully ordered a custom built vehicle through Toyota? It's frustrating to use the toyota.com "Build Your Toyota" tool and customize it only to find you can't buy that specific vehicle. I spoke with a Toyota rep who said the same; you basically "find" the car you want. "Build" on the Toyota web site seems like it may be a mislabeled feature.

For example, this is the combo I want:
    -Premium trim
    -Blizzard Pearl
    -Moonstone interior

There are other options I'd like, but the above combination is not common enough for me to just find in the wild apparently.

My understanding is the first one.

Hometown Toyota in Ontario, OR has a white advance in stock and a few Plus in stock. Not certain of the interior though.

Thanks for that! I've seen a few matching Prime Advanced models around, but I'd essentially be paying $5k for the color combination I want since I don't really want the other Advanced features; seems kind of silly.

If you're willing to take a long road trip or pay for shipping, DARCARS Toyota of Silver Spring MD has a Blizzard White/Moonstone Premium. I know the negotiate price on Primes

It is curious the brochure says "Not all colors and trims are available on all model grades" without any further details.

I'd love it if I could get a Premium with cloth!

I didn't get a Prime, but I ordered a 2016 4 ATP with black exterior and moonstone interior. They said that color combination was either very rare or not available (it didn't show up on their website). They transported the car from a dealer way north of me to a closer dealer. So yes I think they can order for you.

As would I... we've ordered a Premium (Blue Mag with Moonstone), but my first choice IF such were an option would be the Blizzard Pearl with the Harvest Beige fabric that's READILY available with the Two-ECO....

I ended up going this route and purchased exactly what I was looking for at another dealer in Maryland (Antwerpen). Since my wife and I were already taking a trip to the East Coast, I purchased it remotely _relatively_ painlessly and let it sit for a couple months until we got there. I had to fly back so my Wife and her Mom are driving it back to the NorthWest. From what I can tell, it's been sitting there since late 2016; I don't think they are in high demand in that area.

Oddly, I saw a low ratio of regular Prius' driving around that area (New Jersey also) even when compared to redneck Idaho. Odder still given there are tons of houses with full solar panel set-ups in MD/NJ.

I have yet to spot a Prime in the wild, here in the NY/NJ area... mainly SUVs here, may be to do with the harsh winters?

More likely due to dealer allotment.
My preferred dealer in the DC area of Virginia sells a lot of Prius. My preferred sales rep still drives his Gen 1 Prius. I still have not seen a Prime listed on their site.
