The remote control will no longer lock/unlock the driver's side door on my 2014 Prius, but will still lock/unlock all my other doors and hatch. When Googling the problem, it comes back that the part in question is called an actuator.

Does anyone here have any experience replacing this part themselves or is it a dealer only fix? I own a 2014 Prius 2.

    Any advice is welcomed.

    Thank you!

    welcome!
it's a little tricky, but not too hard. you can even fix it, if you're daring enough. you can find threads and probably youtube. are you sure it's the actuator? does it work from the rocker switch on the inside drivers door handle?

I have this exact same problem with my passenger side/front. It is the actuator. Dealership wanted to charge me almost $700 (including the diagnostic fee). I found a trustworthy mechanic who will replace it for $500. Sorry. Probably not what you want to hear.
