Please help me to figure out problems on 07 prius. Bought it June last year haven't had any problems with it until last week. Husband started it after work and dash lights lit up when he started it. Triangle warning light ,yellow brake light , vsc, and check engine light. Replaced 12v battery because it was toast. Still have warning lights also a click from 12v battery. There is a pump noise under hood for about a week before lights came on. I probably have to replace main battery but Toyota said sounds like brake actuator. Can all these things really go bad at same time? The main battery light doesn't come on. Any suggestions on what to do next. Can I drive it to dealer? Husband said no power when he drove it home.

I would drive it to the dealer and let them diagnose what comes next.
If you have a friend, have them follow you to the dealer, for back up.
The error codes are important, they say what the car guesses is wrong. Get them from the dealer and we can offer more hints why they happen.

There is an extended warranty on the brake actuator, so hopefully that's the problem and it'll be fixed for free

117,000 miles. Friend checked for codes and couple were P3021 and P0a80. Going to dealer this afternoon to get a diagnostic. So maybe will know for sure. Thanks for the input.

P0A80 is a hybrid battery failure. You might be lucky and still be under CA warranty. Only if you bought the car after Today's date 2007

Date of in-service was 11/06 from previous owner. Battery not covered under warranty. I know I'm going to take the hit for that but the Toyota guy telling me it it sounds like brake actuator threw me for a loop. That one is covered, but to have this many things go bad at the same time, not good. There are other things going on that tells me dealer may have known car was going to fail. I hope that's not the case.

Get the diagnosis and then call Toyota Corporate for a GoodWill warranty on the battery. They may pay a big portion of the bill because you are not too far out of warranty and your mileage is still fairly low.

Diagnostic is done have 6 codes. They say battery needs replacing and to clean fan inducting and install cooling fan filter. All cost from dealer of about $5000.00.

Well call Toyota and ask them to help cover the battery replacement.

You can probably ignore their other recommendations, unless you have hairy animals riding in your car. Then you may need to have the fan cleaned. There should not be a filter to change out.

$5000 sounds insanely expensive. Especially when a new prius cost around $20000. Maybe that's their goal, get you into a new car

New HV battery installed by dealer should be around $3500 maximum without any corporate goodwill warranty. Fan can be cleaned yourself if necessary. There is no filter.

Service advisor Derek thought that was high also but didn't include estimate in paperwork. I had him copy mechanic notes for me so I would know which cells are bad. Will go back and pick up copy of estimate this morning then call Toyota Corp. Would rather have dealer do work than mechanic shop. Does anyone know anything about Greentec auto? That will be my second choice.

I'm pretty sure corporate Toyota will help you with this battery cost. In fact you can request the dealership to call them on your behalf to request this goodwill warranty.

Greentec sells recondition batteries, they can last 1-3 years troublefree.....or if you're unlucky, it'll last a much shorter time. The new battery from the dealer should give you another 10 trouble free years.

I love my prius. I want to keep it for as long as I can. Have always had Toyota vehicles.

Greentec warranty is only 18 months. I don't know how long for warranty from dealer they didn't give me the estimate. Really want to go with dealer.

A new battery will last about 10 years, a reconditioned one will last a much shorter time.....regardless of warranty

Dealer installed Toyota new battery warranty is 3 years. Was change 2-3 years ago from 1 year, but some dealers don't seem to know this.
