The Brake warning light will come on for all brake-related DTCs. The brake pedal feel should not be affected by the parking brake. Something else is wrong, something hydraulic. A DTC should be stored in history--I wouldn't wait to check if you have the tool. It's too important a system to guess.

There's a reason the trouble light for the brake system is red, not yellow--stop driving!

i think the piston has to be properly oriented, but that may be for gen 3, not sure. did you lube the slide pins?

Orientation is only critical on 3rd gen rear disc brakes, due to the tricky incorporated parking brake.

No i didn't follow the install procedure and didnt lube the the slide pins eather. I just saw now that i had to wait a while and disconect the 12v battery and pull two relays for the errors not to come on. It's double work now tomorow and a trip to the dealership to delete the codes i know what to do to it in the next 60 000 mile as it has over 200 000 miles and its still runing fine. Just did the hole service myself with litle mistake might get a good obd tool good investment. 2008 gen 2 prius

If you do a search you will see how to clear DTC logged by the skid control ECU, by using a jumper on the OBD-II socket. If warning lights still appear after clearing the DTC then you'll know that a current problem exists.

In another 60K miles the pins might be seized. Toyota recommends an in-depth brake inspection (in North America) every 30K miles or 3 years. This does not hinge on brake pad thickness, or perceptions that it's still "running fine".

Pretty sure this is falling on deaf ears.

It's most likely your passenger side speed sensor.

I just ran into the same issue on my prius and when I took it to the dealer, they recommended to replace the speed sensor and that took care of the problem.

    It's this light?

    upload_2017-12-4_7-27-2.png

Normally, that light would be on when the parking brake is engaged, off when it's disengaged.

I have never seen this light prior to replacing the 12v.
I’m in the US and now when I disengage the parking brake it turns on.
AAA says it will go off after 48 hours??

So just to confirm, it is the highlighted light?

    upload_2017-12-4_7-34-56.png

Or some other? Again, that light is normally on, when the parking brake is engaged. Then turns off, when you release the parking brake.

Yes it’s that light and I have never seen this light on since I bought the car.
Never when the parking brake has been engaged or not.
Just wondering if there is a reset button since the car was dead, jumpstarted and 12v battery replaced.

It should be on whenever the car is completely on and the parking brake is applied, and then off when you release the parking brake. At least, that's normal behavior for it.

FWIW, it took me about 4 years with our 2010 before I noticed that light. Someone here pointed it out, when I was saying it would be good to have a warning, to avoid driving off with parking brake engaged. It's diminutive.

Never been on for 10 years and now it is.... I hate having to bring to dealer.
In my manual it shows for Canada but not US and it’s on while driving?

Both countries have the light, it's just a little different looking, Canada vs 'States.

My guess: you parking brake is not releasing properly/completely, while the car is rolling. The light should be on, when you're stopped, with car on and parking brake applied. Maybe check if that's happening.

Still, the jump start factor is puzzling.

Due to cost? Maybe give them a try anyway, see if you can get a mechanic to do a quick check over, maybe test drive.
