I've noticed a few curious things about the P.Prime since we got it:
    • Unless I'm just failing to seeing it (and please let me know if I am), I miss the "lock the whole car" button that our 2009 has on the tailgate. On the P.Prime, I only see the two on the front doors. Of the three on the 2009, I probably have used the one on the tailgate the most.
    • With its trunk floor raised for the battery, I was concerned that standard-sized (paper or cloth) grocery bag would not fit between that raised floor and the tonneau cover. No problem at all, as it turns out!
    • One thing that strikes me as a little odd is that, if you hop into the car and turn it on while it's plugged in, it appears to not let you power it down, until you unplug it, close the charge-port door, then turn off the car, and then probably open the charge-port door again, and plug it back in!
    Just for whatever it's worth...

There is a lock button on the tailgate. It maybe only the Advanced and Premium model option though.

It is the round button right of the open button.

Haven't noticed the problem to power down the car. I have turned it on and off with it plugged in without unplugging it.

Oh, interesting... never would have guessed to look there. OK, I'll look for it tomorrow morning. Thanks!

I believe it's on all models of the Prime and it was on my 2012 Prius Plug-in. It's in the center area, slightly to the right.

    .
You can power down, plugged in or not, simply by tapping the Power Button while your foot is off the brake.

Reason why I say it may not be on all trim models is because not all trim models can be opened by the touch at all doors. Only the Advanced and Premium models have that option. The Plus trim level gives you only the driver's door capability on the 4th generation Prii.

My 2012 PIP was the base model which had it; I hope and would expect all Primes to have it Any Plus owners confirm that??

Just looked it up and the Plus trim has the driver's door only smart key option. Premium and Advanced has all 3 doors.

No trunk for sure? How about a bikini?!. Has Toyota gone cheap for Plus? This is not good!

This is a screenshot of the Prime's e-brouchure of the Plus trim options with the smart key option listed.

It does say "3 doors" here and not on the Plus. I guess Toyota went cheap, cheap, cheap like the birdies say!

WE definitely have boring weather compared to you guys. I guess the unpredictable weather is the price you pay for the beautiful scenery you guys have. We've had a tremendous amount of rain this year, more than double the normal rainfall, so we've got beautiful flowers, and greenery everywhere. I've planted my own mini forest on my 6900 square feet lot, and everything looks great. We did hit 100 here in Anaheim; ridiculously hot. Ran A/C on the Prime; cuts between 1 mile and 1.4 miles off the EV. Got to slow the snail!!
Watch out for low lightning !

It rains on a weekly basis here. It is also very green here. Biggest city in our area is Greenville, which explains that. The city even has a waterfall downtown called Falls Park. It can get humid at times. It isn't a good place to live if you are prone to allergies. Lots of pollen in the spring to the point that a green dust gets on everything outside. It eventually gets washed off when it rains though. It can be a mess for some. It can get warm during the summer in the 90's. Not as bad in the mountains where it is about 10 degrees cooler. Love it here though with its shortcomings.

Wow, definitely striking! We have Yosemite, but it's about 7 hours away.
I don't think I could handle the humidity and the heat; the heat alone is bad enough! My area here is more about resorts and large groups of people: Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, The Anaheim Convention Center, Angel Stadium, The Pond, The Grove Center, and lots more, and of course the beach!!
I almost never go to any of them, but when I can find a decent venue, I play with my band A Choired Taste. I've downsized the band from 9 players to 3-4 currently; venues rarely have the money or room for a large band. You can see us on YouTube, "Chemistry" A Choired Taste. It's a song I wrote inspired by a crazy woman I dated several years ago!. I've got 10 albums out and trying to promote them keeps me pretty busy.

Thanks for mentioning that first bullet - I had also missed that door locking from the back. I'll look for the button today!

Re: carrying groceries, I keep cloth bags in my car for shopping trips. I bought 2 plastic 'milk crates' (99 cents at Goodwill!) that I'm keeping in the back. I set the bags in these to keep them upright for the trip home.
