Hey guys I had the issue where my driver lock was not unlocking when I used the key fob so I opened the door lock actuator and replaced the motor then put it back together. Unfortunately after shutting the door it is now permanently locked, is there a way to get it back open? I can still get in through the other doors

Did you try the mechanical key?

Have to try to remove the inside trim without damage while the door is closed (I was able to do that with a Gen 1 rear door when it couldn't be opened after a collision), and see if you can reach in and do what needs to be done.

You're the second person I know of to post on PriusChat with such an issue.

Future readers of thread: please be sure to put the latch and lock of your repaired door through all of its paces with the door open, before you go and close it.

Or don't put on the door panel till it's confirmed fixed.

Seriously, test the latching, locking, unlocking, and unlatching with the door open, before you close it even once. Just use a screwdriver, bolt, anything to flip the latch closed in the end of the door, and make sure it flips back open when you pull the release.

Just leaving the trim panel off does not guarantee you will have access enough from inside the car to correct every kind of installation mistake you might conceivably make. The latch assembly can be hard to reach, and some of the linkages can attach to it in extra hard to reach ways, and some of the bolts holding it may not be accessible with the door closed.

Test before closing. Just do it....

I did actually make sure the lock moved back n forth when I push the lock and unlock button ( it even moves back and forth now) but the door does not unlock. Not sure how else I could have tested, but doesn't help me now anyways

Yeah, sorry, your thread is now a combination of advice for you, and advice for future PriusChatters who still have a chance to avoid being in your situation.

As for how else you could have tested, I know it's too late in your case, but: you have to test it the exact way that closing the door tests it. You have to find where the latch mechanism sticks out through the end of the door, and where the strike in the door frame fits into it, and you have to stick a screwdriver or bolt right in there the same way the strike would fit in, and push until the latch closes around it, and then verify that it releases when you pull the handle to open the door.

    That's the test that matters....

Have you had any success getting the trim panel off, and seeing or feeling what's up with the mechanism?

There is a metal rod that attaches to the actuator. Are you sure it's sitting in the right place on the actuator? I would check out some of the youtube videos. You should be able to reach it and pull up and down on it to unlock the door.

I ended up taking it to a shop and they are working on it but I think sillymike is right I probably didn't place the metal rod in correctly. The actuator works (at least I got something right) it's just that the door doesn't open, so probably the metal rod.

Thanks for the help guys I'll let you know how this concludes. One of my back doors doesn't work with the remote so I'll be fixing that as well when I get the car back.

There are two cables which run to the inside door opening handle and lock mechanism. It's possible you mixed these up? So maybe you can just pop the small trim piece off of the inside door opening handle and manipulate the cables to get your door open.

Well I got my car back the repair shop was able to get the door open by basically breaking the actuator, but now the driver side window control doesn't control the other windows and it won't auto scroll up and down ☹️

Take the panel off the door frame look at the switch inside and reconnect. Probably not connected correctly. Look on youtube on how to take door panel off. It's pretty simple.

Make sure your window lock button isn't pushed in. I went for a week thinking my switch was broken but all it was was the switch was activated.
