While I think with a large enough data set you can get an idea of a "typical" hybrid buyer, the pool is so large that you can find just about anyone. As an example, to any who might say they're all liberal tree-hugging Californians, I have a super-ultra right-wing, Trump-loving friend who has bought 3 Priuses over the last 10 years (first a regular Prius, then the PiP). Of course he's said his reason was solely to get the HOV stickers (he never once has plugged the PiP in), but he's been pleased with the mileage and has no problems buying Toyotas. I always thought the idea of a "hybrid" was a no-brainer -- take energy that's completely wasted in braking, and instead, send it to a battery/capacitor/invention of your choice, to save it to use for when you need to accelerate. Should've been here 50 years ago, if you ask me. Then in the same way that some people liked to tune around the radio dial as kids to see how far away a station you can get, there's the "game" of trying to see how many miles you can get per gallon. And those two things aside, the knowledge that your dirty footprint, while still there, is certainly a lot better than the one driving the giant SUV next door. Especially if you have kids or grandkids and want to do what's right for them.
I saw Priuses getting publicity back when I was in elementary school in the WeeklyReader magazines. They were talking about this ugly little car that would essentially 'turn off' when stopped at lights and use electric power. I was making fun of these ugly cars since before they came out and within the past 2 years after my Toyota Celica was wrecked I've owned both the 05 Prius and now the Prius prime. Lol it's hard getting past the initial pride loss of driving one of these. Then you start to enjoy the massive mpgs and low maintenance. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I'm 29 and drove from MO to NY to buy a prime. I call that dedication. These things aren't just for you old people. The good news is that once all the older prime owners start kicking the can there will finally be some primes entering the market.
Man that really sucks the big Linguini!! Where do these trolls live??!! Jealous losers! Sorry to hear that. You might think about motion/proximity detector? I know when I lived with carports for over 20 years, we'd get nightly hits on 1 or more cars. Very frustrating!! .
36 here jut got it this past Sat. Loving it. Wishlist: android auto support, CJK support on the display
Yeah, and there won't be us old buzzards hogging all the Primes!! Hey I can still remember (even in my senile years!), how I was treated like a young punk when I first hired in at Chevron at El Segundo refinery; age discrimination exists everywhere and goes both ways. I've gotten to the point where I can just laugh it off now that I've moved into senility! Just enjoy whatever time you get; it doesn't last forever. Like my song says, "Quit Your Bitchin, Everybody's Gotta Die Someday!" .
Sara B is right on. Most Prius drivers I see are hot young chicks or soccer moms. And they don't drive S L O W like all you old coots! The worst thing in life is to be stuck behind a slow Prius driver! Some of these old dudes need to go back to their Buicks. LOL.
I would, but I'm fresh out of rubber checks. LOL! I sure love your enthusiasm. I usually get stuck behind slow Mercedes drivers.
