hey, im just wondering, have anyone here been able to add a automatic trunk opener or some yet? like for example taking the electric hatch strut from another car or some (like the rav4 or a lexus)? idk... my mom sometimes says the the boot is very heavy to open. Do any of u guys know if something like that is possible?

no, but someone else asked the same question a year or two ago, then said they would pioneer it, then gave up, after seeing all the difficulties.

i really dont get it... there is aftermarket auto liftgate for so many cars that dont need it, but for alot of the cars where its actually a little heavy to open there is nothing...

thanks dude, ill take a look, it cant be to hard to close either lol, my mom really dont got alot of energy to do anything... so yea... maybe there is a way for the car to open the hatch lock when u press the open button for like 4 seconds? then a strut like the one on that page to drag it up? so its like half automatic. Better then what it is now.

Interesting. I have to hold onto my hatch so it doesn't slam too hard against the overhead garage door. I wouldn't want mine opening unless I was there to control it. Sounds like maybe your air struts are getting weak.

Then again, I just thought: the PiP has an aluminum hatch. I wonder if it has different struts to compensate.

I could be wrong, but I think they went to the extra expense on the PiP to partly compensate for the heavier battery. Kind of like the carbon fiber hatch on the Prime. Now you made me curious.

Edit to add: You, I think you're right. The hoods are aluminum, too.
