    Hello all,
I am driving a 2006 Prius and the BRAKE, ABS, and (!) dash lights turn on when I come to a complete stop.
The lights do not generally come on immediately when I turn the car on into "Ready" mode.
The issue always happens when I drive and then come to a complete stop.
When I turn the car off and then on again, the lights seem to turn off, then once again as soon as I reach a complete stop they turn on again.

Now, it is only the 3 lights (BRAKE, ABS, and (!)).
My VSC light has not turned on. I have seen in other posts the VSC light is included in the problem.
The driving does not really seem to be effected much at all. The brakes still seems to work.
However, the car manual claims that I need to take it to the dealership.

Love any information and help on this situation.

    Thanks in advance!

When was the last time you checked your oil level? Does your AC blow cold?

before you do anything have the 12 volt battery checked.. a weak battery throws all kind of codes and warning lights.. when you hit the brakes the brake lights might drain the battery enough to trip the warning lights

I had the oil charged about a month ago. Probably only have driven it about 500-1000 miles since then.
I just checked it now and the oil seems clear and at a good level.

I have noticed just today that I only have 2-3 bars on the battery icon on the "info" display. (I have not been driving this particular car for a few days due to this dash light issue) Could the battery charge deplete with such minimal driving?
I just checked on the Aux Battery and it was replaced 6/2016. Seems sort of new to be losing levels.

Yes, oil seems to be clear and at a good level. Changed the oil ab out a month ago about 500 mile driven since.
The AC seems to blow cold too.

You would need to get the codes read to know the exact problem.

    Okay. Thanks!
And could a standard mechanic retrieve the codes? Or does the Toyota Dealer need to do this?

The Prius has specific codes that some standard mechanic readers cannot read. It depends on their equipment.

The dealer for sure can do it, just they charge a lot more.

I actually think this might be an ABS actuator problem, which should be covered under an extended warranty by Toyota (I'm not sure the duration though).

I got the codes from the auto part store.
    Hopefully, these test are reliable.
The codes were C1249 and P1121

You seem to need a new brake lamp switch and a new 3 way coolant valve.......for now

Are these repairs/parts pretty easy to do myself? Any references or threads to follow for this one?

Also, after watching some videos online, I do hear some slight noise while holding the brake down. Sounds like 5 seconds of quick ticking. People seemed to identify this sounds to ABS modules needing to be replaced. Perhaps?

Both repairs are fairly easy. You will want to do the brake lamp switch first, that's causing the red triangle. The 3 way coolant valve wouldn't affect much, check engine light will be lit with this problem though.

    Thanks for the replies!
The red triangle has never been lit nor has the check engine light.

Very strange, since DTC P1121 is logged by the engine ECU, the check engine light should appear.

Do you have any additional thoughts Patrick?

I think you should replace the brake light switch and see what happens.

Any idea of resources or videos to use for install instructions and to purchase parts?

The part you need is called a "stop lamp switch". The OEM switch is very expensive, retails at $63.95. Often sold online at a discounted price around $46.88. Part number 8434047020. I may have a used one for sale if you're interested (maybe)

Here's the link to Camelback Toyota's page.

Installation is very easy, just need a wrench (10mm I think). Loosen the nut, remove the old part, install new part and tighten the nut.
