Cylinder misfire. Help!

    This is the removal of the old engine. The last picture is the deteriorating cat converter, I actually vacuumed it before we reinstalled the new engine.

    Yes! I'm going to take off the intake manifold (already filled with oil) and check it out. Already inspected the ERG system, and honestly it's not super horrible like I was expecting. Sure it's got it's got a good amount of carbon build up, but I was expecting much worse.

    Took off one end of the hose coming from the PCV valve, and damn....... it was nasty looking. Not sure if it's because it had a blown head gasket or what. The tube was almost completely clogged with nasty sludge. I'll take off the whole valve soon and inspect more.

    Job complete! Took us about 16 hours start to finish. Not bad at all!

    The engine started and runs smoothly. Took it on a drive and averaged 57.00 MPG. Can't even notice it switching from electric to gas!

    The odometer is at 195,xxx miles now. I had no idea she put SO many miles on the old engine while it had a blown head gasket. She went on a few road trips, and drove more than a 100 miles a day. The old engine really put up a good fight! At least 15-18k miles on a blown gasket! She just kept adding coolant and oil. you could tell on the dipstick that oil and coolant had mixed big time.

    Happy and proud to have that accomplished!

    Same here, the map sensor was also covered in wet sludge. That's why I was stressing the Oil Catch Can to prevent this built up of oil being sprayed all over. Your cats and egr system should be a whole lot cleaner as well. I never had to remove my hood or my manifold during the engine replacement. Great job.

    Maybe we can get one installed. We had to hurry since my sister uses her car for a living. Yeah with the good, it was super easy and took two minutes and we were glad we did. More light down there!

    Update: it's been on the road for a week now. It's even done a small road trip since she's been back. Getting in the mid 40's mpg. Fantastic for my lead foot sister, and having 17" wheels! Everyone is happy :)

    Well it had a pool of oil down there. Most of it was already mopped up at this point so not a great photo opportunity.

    Yeah updating this thread! The EGR system actually didn't look all that bad.

    Also, wanted to remove the PCV valve but didn't have the extended socket I needed. The PCV pipe was all nasty and filled with muck
