Canadian pennies are only accepted at banks, I think. Banks may have even stopped accepting them.

if they're copper, they're worth more than a penny. but i think the new u.s. penny is plastic. probably veggie based.

    I can't remember the last time I got change:sick:.

The wife's 88 year old grandmother was a "collector" of pennies and when we moved back to CA in 2014, her grandmother wanted to cash her collection in and needed help. There were 3 five gallon water jugs worth of pennies:eek:.

Let's just say it took awhile to move her collection. Hope your hoard is as substantial (y).

In UK they're copper plated steel since 1992!

Actually, in the US pennies have been zinc with copper plating since 1983! (Bisco - the earlier ones are 95% copper and worth more for the metal; wheaties - the pre-1959 reverse, are even more collectable.)

We also have a legal $2 bill - but you have to ask to get one at the bank (and sometimes they don't know what you are talking about, either!)

FE is primarily listed in L/100km (car reviews, ads, Natural Resources Canada's fuel economy booklet). The only place you'll see imperial MPG is in the brochures and on the website (Specifications page).

They're still legal tender. You can still use them to pay. However, businesses are discouraged to return them in change. Businesses can turn them into the banks when they make their payments.

    Huh.. Did not know that.

We also have coloured quarters (this year's design as well as a poppy design a few years back)

we had $2. bills a long time ago. no one used them, so they called them in. after enough time went by, some numbnuts in washington decided it would be a good idea to bring them back. probably cost a fortune, and again, nobody uses them. heck, no one uses one dollar bills anymore, you just get them back in change.
