So I recently had my Hybrid battery installed and I notice on the energy screen where it show the battery level of charge hasn't really fully charge yet.

I've had the replacement done on 6/13 and I haven't notice it with a full charge, the most I've seen is around 6-7 stripes. I've also notice that battery has gone all the way done to 2 stripes here and there.

Does this show that my battery is NOT a new battery?. Are these normal for a New battery?. What should a new battery show on the energy charge screen?.

I may be in your boat soon. All signs are pointing to failed HV battery and i'm having it towed to Toyota next week for the def diagnoses. A friend works for the company and he's going to put in a good word for me, bless his heart. I've had the 2008 (six months out of warranty) since january and its at 91,000 miles. I've only owned the car for 5000 miles and have had so. many. problems. Wish me luck and i'll keep ya'll in the loop.

There is a similar case being discussed right now. Sounds like owner got half off, but he may have been orig owner. This sounds like the we just now starting to hear more 2008's...I was hoping 2008's were immune , and they may well be better. We do not have the numbers.

Ughh it just really sucks. My only alternative would be a refurbished battery installed for $1000 but with who knows what kind of future. This makes me miss my 1993 Impreza. :(

You can still try to see what Toyota will do for you.

completely normal, you're battery is fine. it takes a special set of circumstances to fill the last bar of the battery icon.

I know it's a stupid question, but how can you figure out your MPG?. I've always find myself puzzled when figuring this out.

Should be on the bottom part of your little display when you go under the info screen I believe.

The consumption display screen as carlee says, and the reset button between tanks. But the most accurate method is miles travelled
    divided by refill gallons.

Keep in mind, gen 2 has a tank bladder, so best to average tanks as you fill up.

    (2007 Prius with151K miles)

Spoke with Toyota HQ and worked out a "GoodWill" deal - under $2000 after taxes includes installation and 3 yr warranty.
HW negotiated with the dealer bringing in the cost from $4200 to $2000.

How did you get this? I am 3 months past warranty (still under 100k miles) and just called. The phone call didn't sound reassuring.

Just finding this forum. Three years ago, 1 month after the 8 year warranty on my battery, it needed to be replaced. Decided to spend the $4000. No Goodwill gesture, no discount, nothing.
Now, 3 years later the replacement battery needs to be replaced. I think it’s a great car, Inhave never had any other issue in the time I have had the car, other than the batteries. Dissappointed in Toyota.

If you're close to Phoenix, contact Steve at phoenixhybridbatteries.com. He'll sell you a brand new Toyota battery for half of the $4000

With what was it replaced? A OEM battery or a "rebuilt" battery? And by whom?

I am wondering the best way to go about asking for goodwill warranty assistance for the HV battery replacement. Is it better to do it over the phone, or in person? If I do it over the phone (with my local Toyota dealership), who should I ask to speak with (as in what job title), the "service manager," or is there someone else I should ask for who would have the authority to negotiate goodwill warranty assistance? I want to make sure I'm talking to the right person, not just the person who answers the phone...

My Prius is dead, so I have to have it towed to a location, and I'm trying to decide if I should have it towed to my Toyota dealership and once I'm there ask about goodwill warranty consideration, or should I call first and have the discussion before bringing it in? And again, if I go in and have the conversation in person, is there a particular person I should direct my questions to, or will just any service person be fine? Last question - do you actually use the term "goodwill warranty" when you're having this discussion with Toyota, or should I avoid using that term and phrase it another way.

I have a 2008 Prius, I bought it new and have had it a little over ten years, I get it serviced by my Toyota dealership, I'm only a few (~3) months past my warranty, I only have 83,000 miles on it, and my previous car was a Toyota - so I feel like I have a good shot at getting some kind of goodwill warranty discount on a new battery...(I hope)

Any advice on the steps to take would be much appreciated! Thanks.

The dealership does not give you a goodwill warranty, that would come from Toyota corporate. You need to first get your car diagnosed at a Toyota dealer to find out if that's the problem.

Once it's determined that the battery is at fault, then you would request the service manager to ask Toyota corporate to extend a goodwill warranty out to you. You can also make the phone call yourself to Toyota corporate. Give them all the details and I'm pretty sure they'll help you out in fixing this car. It has low miles and you've been loyal in servicing it at the dealer.

    Good Luck.

No help given to me for a battery replacement. I've had my 2006 prius since 36k miles (2012) and it hit 106k last week. Got the red triangle needing a new battery this week. Car has been to dealer since purchase (previous owner) til 2015 (me) at 70k miles. Since then been going to pep boys or other shops near me due to change in work/house location.

Being quoted $3100 from dealers with 3 yr warranty. Thinking of paying $1550 to GreenBean with 5 year warranty instead. Shame, the battery replacement cost almost eliminates the cost savings of a hybrid over a gas car.
