I prefer to see them in shopping centers but in the least favorite parking places to minimize being ICEd.

I think the last time I was at a true shopping center was about 10 years ago.

I found one at a local Meijer's grocery store. Too bad neither of the two stations worked. One was completely dead. the other one took my charge point card and started the charge session, but terminated 5 seconds later with the error message low line voltage.

Not sure what their support is like, but give the company a heads up about the issues with the chargers and hopefully they'll be resolved in some sort of timely fashion. This is especially true if you're in an area where they wouldn't get much use otherwise.

what the difference between charge point and free charge point, in the latter case, is someone else picking up the tab?
    i don't mind paying, but at 24 cents /kwh, i probably wouldn't bother.

I went into the store to their customer service department and they said I needed to get a hold of Charge Point because it's Charge Point's issue . not the stores. On the Charge Point App. I notified Charge Point of the issue. Also gave a heads up in the comments section of the station about the issue so people wanting to use it won't make a wasted trip out there.

that is a good question @bisco according to the comments it's been a year since the last person commented and it was functional then.

If it had power, then it would not be a #PrimeCharging Challenge to charge there!
Where's your sense of adventure

I charge at home with a level 2 charger (Duosida). Most of my trips are local and fully electric. It would be nice to have destination chargers, but in So. Cal. the average rate is .49 kwh. I'll burn gas before I pay that outrageous rate. The one I consistently use is at an indian casino that's free and makes the whole round trip electric.
As electric vehicles become more ubiquitous, maybe merchants will see the the upside to providing free chargers to increase business, but for grocery shopping, you wouldn't be there long enough to get a full charge anyway. Restaurants would be a good market for free chargers.

Chargepoint doesn't pick up the tab, the merchant does.

Is there a way to tell if it's free if you don't have a card?

    One of the better setups:

    Hi Robert,

We wanted to let you know that at 07:43 pm, the parking fee set by the property owner increases from $0.85/hr to $5.00/hr.

    Sincerely,
    Team ChargePoint

A Level 2 charger, 31A at 210V, 6.5 kWh, @$0.10/kWh, the $0.85/hr was a fair price. The $0.85/hr rate was good for four hours. The higher rate hopefully would scare off the Tesla plug-hogs.

Post 25 the store with the station problems said it was your issue. Apparently they may have been broken for a year.
