The cop I filed the report with just kept saying "you must have done SOMETHING to p*ss him off" - I just told him he should have been watching where he was going and that he should remember to get out on the right side of his bed.

Thanks for the welcome :D I love the car. Put about 400km on it so far, MFD shows 4.6l/100k, not bad. 50% highway/city driving.

Thanks for the reminder to get a new disposable camera too - had one in my last car but need to get one for the Prius - probaby would sit nicely on the shelf in the upper glove box! (also quick access in an emergency)

Okay, what enterprising individual will fix it so that the sound system plays simulated ICE noises when in EV mode to let people know that there's a 1,300kg vehicle about to run them over??

ha! maybe he was shocked that I could drive my car sitting all the way over in the passenger seat? ;)

So sorry about your experience. At least we know he wasn't a Prius owner.

My motto, "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity!" doesn't seem to apply here. Definely Malicious.

I alway have music playing when I drive, one of the perks of the Prius is how quiet is is in traffic jams. I wonder if it would be worth while to pipe the music out of a speaker in the front grill of the car. At least people would hear me coming, and it would not disturb my appreciation of the same music inside. Of course they might also clobber me because I tend to listen to Opera, Pipe organ and Gregorian Chants (my tastes are VERY eclectic. (;-)

 That would have been a good time to put the old "Schlobberknocker" on him, then pick him up by the ankles and shake the spare change out of his pockets....

I doubt (and am hopeful that it did not) have anything to do with the car being a Prius, or being quiet. But then I wasn't there...

Years ago I was driving in downtown San Francisco with our 10-year-old Honda Accord with pop-up headlights. While stopped at a red light (with engine idling, of course), a guy walks across the cross-walk and starts spinning and skipping - doing a little dance. Comes right over to the nose of our car and slaps one of the headlights. Hard. Broke the mechanical actuator to the tune of $300. I just sat there with my mouth hanging open wondering what the hell was going on. Drove home with one light. :(

I wouldn't worry on it too much, it's in the nature of frightened animals to deal with fear by thoughtless agression. If I was to try and grab a wild animal, I'm sure it would try and bite/scratch/sting me. Sounds about the same...

Don't try to understand it - it's not personal, it's just instinct by a lower life form...

Thanks for the words. I feel much better now, it was just a freakin' weird thing to have happen to at the time... even weirder is I was literally 200m from my office entrance. Great way to start the morning

I wouldn't've had the self-control not get out of my car and give the jerk some "wall-to-wall counseling" (As we called it in the military!) Learn to dance with a fat lip, pal!!!

Okay my latest vent. I crunched the numbers last week and found I had about $35,000 in equity from my paid-off Tundra (9-years old) and my Prius. I've been wanting to replace the gas-guzzling Tundra with a Tacoma and go from 2 cars to 1 and drive the Tacoma as my commuter car.

Nope....priced new Tacoma's locally. I need the V-6 with crew-cab for our RV. Cheapest price I could find in Colorado Springs and Denver was $42,000....talk about your sticker shock! So after our crazy high Colorado taxes you're looking at $47,000 easy. So, nope, keeping the Tundra, now, until the wheels fall off. (Thankfully it has zero rust...I keep her rinsed off well underneath in the winter.)

Wow, for a minute I had this thread totally confused with the newer one

Just need to vent... | Page 25 | PriusChat

and was just about to reply to somebody's vent from 2006!

I figured that was an autocorrect, but I still didn't know what a caperan was. I guess it can be a variety of grape, or a dude with UN connections and experience in clean energy ventures. If he's in your Prius glove box, that's pretty cool. The grape too; the link above says there were no stocks known as of 2016, so don't dispose of it.

I can't remember if autocorrect was even a thing in 2006.

I do miss galaxee around here.
