Idiot attached the battery anodes in reverse. Now what?

This is the very reason that I have any and all work (even oil changes) done at a Toyota dealership....Then it's all in my computer record.. The only other service people that I use are Firestone for tire rotation, balance and alignment.

The "guy" is not employed by anyone he's just a guy let it go.

This is the scary part about buying a used Prius off a car lot. Usually they have sat for a while the battery has gone dead has sat there dead for a while sulphated up and when a prospective mark comes along they run out there and jump start it and away it goes only to be dead as a door nail the next day.

Sorry but this poor lady has joined the thousands of people who come to this site who have blown up there cars with a guber and a set of jump leads. Its the post that made this site. The dead 12 and the great mystery of it all.

The most expedient thing to do is tow it to the dealer and get ready for a very expensive bill. Or buy a a mini vci off amazon.com for $25 and you will be able to pull the codes the car is throwing which will tell you what module is blown OR...

find someone in your life with a voltmeter who can ohm out every fuse in the car.Not look at each fuse but electrically check each fuse both in the car and under the hood. You may be lucky and may just have a blown fuse. The inverter is ok or the car would not start.

I'm afraid you might have sticker shock from paying for what that idiot did to your car, doubt if he is worth a lawsuit, I have to agree with most of the people here, take it to the dealer and open your wallet, real wide, sorry.....

 

Go to the auto parts store and get new proper size fuses for the ones that were blown. Also make sure none of the borrowed fuses are blown. All fuses must be the correct amp size for the circuit it is intended. Borrowing a good but undersized fuse is not a good thing. Write down Whatever MIL codes are Present and Clear the history. Make sure the rear Hatch is Closed. Open it and give it a good push closed. ALL doors must be closed or the car will not shift into drive.

Your idea of what is non-important may not be totally correct. Do not rely upon the name of a fuse to decide that it is not needed for proper vehicle operation.

Spend a few $s to buy the correct replacement fuses, because that might be all that is needed. And even if that does not restore the car to proper operation, you'll spend less by DIY instead of paying the repair shop for the labor and parts markup.

Or spend a few $ and buy a digital multimeter to DIY. I agree that it is not sufficient to rely upon visual inspection of the fuses.

call their customer service and demand they take it to the dealer and they pay all repair costs.. not sure why a 2015 would have battery issues but AAA should be responsible for all repairs .. if not get a get a lawyer and sue the AAA shop..

 

Why should AAA be responsible for damage caused by a third party guy hired separately at a later time?

 

I wasn't reading carefully, thought it was AAA that reversed the cables. That's all resolved, I think?

(It would have been great if it had been AAA, they'd likely act responsibly, compensate OP for repairs.)

(Although probably not the first to ever make this error...try a search on this forum)

Best advise has been said in above posts.
Budget...Replace every fuse with new fuses....check your owners manual as there may be multiple fuse box locations.
Level 2...OBDII Scanner...buy one (Harbor Freight store $60 for example) and list the codes found...may lead you to an easy repair or other Prius Chat guidance.
Level 3...Independent repair shop with Tech Stream software.
Level 4...Tow to a Toyota dealer.
