Prius Prime - official prices paid thread

Just walked off the lot in Swansea, MA. Grey Prime Premium with Black Interior. $30,303 sticker price. Got a $4,000 for my 2010 Corolla in trade and $6,300 off sticker price ($3,125) was a rebate. So we ended up paying $20,003 before TTF. Came to about $22,000 after. Very happy!

 

yow! and another 6k in tax credits brings you to 14k!

 

I live in RI and the state uses up the budget for their $1500 credit so just $4500 federal for me. Might not get 100% of that because I use other tax credits already.

 

Looking at the Toyota website for NY/NJ area, the incentive is still $3,500 - am I reading it wrong?

 

Correct. $3500 is still in effect for NJ.

 

Yea, the Toyota website shows the $3500 continuing on to 9/5, but when I checked the websites of two of the dealers near me, the $3500 is not listed, as it was yesterday.

I am convinced the price-match route is the best path to a good deal.

We used two different buying services. One through a credit card company, the other through Costco.
Both services resulted in several dealers providing very good offers. Better than anything we had received from initially talking to the dealers but in fairness we didn't push hard on price because I knew I was going to contact the buying services.
Using the services did result in quite a few calls (one within 2 minutes of filling out the on-line form) from various dealers but all were polite helpful.

The best offer was 2125 below MSRP as a discount, plus the 3125 Toyota incentive on a Prime Advanced.
Another offered 1589 below MSRP as a discount, plus the 3125 Toyota incentive.

We then visited our local dealer who we had purchased from before and who we knew had a Prime Advanced on the lot and they matched our best offer. AND, since the one on the lot also had a few extra options, the discount was actually a bit better.

Having a firm offer and negotiating for something on the lot seems to be a good approach.

 

I totally agree. I did similar thing with my local dealer. Being only Toyota dealer within 200 miles radius, our local Toyota dealer basically has monopoly on pricing any new Toyota in our region. When we sat down to discuss the price on new PRIME PREMIUM, their initial offer was MSRP with no discount. However, as soon as I showed him print out of the best quote I received from a Boston dealer, things changed. When I told the salesperson, unless the price come down to match the Boston dealer's, I was planning to take a trip down to Boston to look at this car tomorrow. The salesperson immediately came down on the sales price to match it. Though he was not as generous as your dealer, since the PRIME they had in the lot also had a few extra options, he adjusted the discount proportionally. Still, in the end I got $2,609 discount off from MSRP +$3125 dealer incentive. It saved me a trip down to Boston which would have taken entire day driving, and the best thing is I kept a good relationship with the only Toyota dealer in our region where I almost have to take my new Prime for future services.

Doing your homework before visiting a dealer is a must in this age on internet sales, IMOH.

 

The dealers now have the incentives for the Prime listed again.

Thank you! I'm a car nut. I have a Z06 and a few other sports cars. This Prime is confusing the crap out of everyone, but it's as revolutionary as my Z06!!!! I love it!

 

As a car nut, what do you think of the car's steering feel?

 

The steering feel is great. I would say it's a little numb and sterile, but the whole car feels that way, and it's a great thing. I don't like electric racks, but I'll take this one any day. It just feels like the future, and the weighting matches the car's demeanor.

One thing I have to say, is this car is very very capable of carving up corners. I wasn't expecting that. We are going to swap on the rims from our FRS and get some sticky tires on there, just to keep speed through corners = more MPG

These are the cars that will be getting a break while I enjoy this Prime

 

I just got our Premium in Blizzard Pearl. The price was $27,348.39 + TTL after $1000 Toyota Rebate. Have been very pleased with the car and a huge improvement over out Gen 3 Prius. The Dealer was Elk Grove Toyota.

Excellent! why did you decide on the Premium and not Advanced? I wonder if it has to do with the fact that a lot of the reviews "recommend" Premium and not the Advanced...
