Hi guys, quick question before I give this a try tomorrow. Does anyone know if the badges on the prime, hatch and sides, are simply double side taped on or is there a hole in the panel like the older generations? I personally don't like how the badges take away from the car and want to get rid of them.

Can you find the badges on-line as a replacement to see if they show the back side or mounting method in the details?

Be aware that the name plates are functional, not just decorative: according to Toyota’s Emergency Response Guide (PDF), they help to identify the vehicle as a hybrid for firefighters and tow operators, who may need to be aware of the hazards from high voltage and battery electrolyte.

That said, the Repair Manual (available by subscription to techinfo.toyota.com) mentions pins—and by implication, holes in the body panel—only for the Back Door Ornament Sub-Assembly, the Toyota logo in the center of the rear hatch.

I can’t say for sure that there are no holes behind the Side Panel Emblems (“PLUG-IN HYBRID”) or No. 2 Back Door Name Plate (“PRIUS PRIME”), but the removal procedure just says to use piano wire to cut the double-sided tape, after applying protective tape to the surrounding area, and the installation locations are specified by distances from other parts, not by reference to holes.

What's up, man? Did you ever debadge your Prime? If so, were there any holes in the car behind the badges? I appreciate any information you may have. Thanks!

I would like before and after pictures. I may consider removing the badge as well.

Plus, more people will ask what kind of car it is :D

It's strange, my dealership put stickers on as their badge. Each letter of the dealership name was an individual sticker. I got the stickers off fine but there is a strange ghosting around the stickers that I can't seem to get off (I used WD-40 and the turtle wax sticker remover). The spots where the stickers were looks great but if you look at it in the right light you can still read it because the area around the stickers have a bit of ghosting. I can't figure out what it is.

I had the same type of indivisual 3D lettering type logo of the dealer on my previous Gen3 Prius. After removing all logo, I did have some ghost image of where letters once were. I didn't care so mach about the looks. I just did not want the dealer name on my car, so I lived with it. On my new Prime it was thin paper type sticker and it came right off without leaving any residue.

Yeah, you really have to look at it in the right light to notice it. I just find it odd that the surface that had the letters on top of it is clean but the area around it is off a bit. Makes me wonder what they used to put the stickers on.

I removed the rear oval on the back and replaced with one of my choosing.

The scratch marks on the side were from the string that was used for the removal.
They were easily fixed with touch-up paint from the dealer (which had to be ordered).

I didn't know that there were pins back there, and I didn't know how thin the paint was.

Here is the view just after removal.

Try using a clay bar in that area

Anyone have before and after pics yet - want to see the Prime with and without badging to know if it's worth the effort. Also interested if any pins are in the side and tail badges or are they all "Stickers"

I debadged my Prime, both side and rear badges. Love the result. I used hot water, pliers, and goo gone.
