Just got these installed today on my prime. The roof rack was a custom job with fix point mounting. Loving my Prius even more now. Now I'm ready for the long road trips!

Wow, that looks super cool. I am considering getting roof rack and cargo box for my PRIME too. I did not like the looks of OEM roof rack, and read in here people who had that option installed was complaining about noise. How is your rack? Is it noisy at high speed on highway? How easy is it to remove the rack when not in need. Thanks.

Is the box big enough to hold a standard road bicycle (probably with the front wheel off and the handlebars turned sideways)?

you can't fit a bike in the box but you can purchase an additional bike mount and put the bike directly on the rack. Here is a picture with the rack alone and no cargo box

Phuie024 - When you say it's a "custom job" , where did you get it? Can it be purchased online and shipped to SF. Looking for bike rack system.

you can purchase online yourself and install using a clip on system. I used a fix point which requires drilling in the rooftop. you can check with a store in sf called Rack Solid for more info

    Like tower, and landing pads?
    What’s size is your box?

Drilling into the roof sounds like the most secure option. I wasn't aware that anyone actually did that. I never liked the clip-on racks, but the Toyota OEM one seems OK in theory since the car is actually designed for it (there are notches where it clips on).

Can you take it off by yourself? I'm a 5'4" 120lb. woman. Would I be able to take it off/put it on by myself, maybe with a ladder?
