I already had my windshield cracked last week when I was driving on highway. You can search thread here for "cracked windshield", but it seems Prime and Gen4 Prius in particular seem to be prone to windshield crack. I can see class action on this brewing from the way Toyota is handling the situation. I don't know what my repair cost is going to be for I am currently on national waiting list for the windshield for PRIME. For Prime, there is no windshield available in the US right now. There is no aftermarket parts yet, so shipping OEM glass from Japan has been reported to cost anywhere from $800-$1200, just for parts. On top of installation of windshield, there has to be recalibration of camera mounted on the windshield that must be performed by the dealer. This calibration has been reported to cost anywhere form $500 to $900 in addition to windshield installation. I am currently contacting Toyota headquarter about this issue, but I don't know what comes out of it. I do have zero deductible comprehensive on my car, so I hope insurance will cover the cost when it's all finished.

WOW!! That's crazy! Hopefully you get some results by contacting Toyota and they actually do something about it now and not a year from now. Thanks for the info. Keep us posted on what Toyota does.

Glass breakage is covered by your insurance but not warranty unless they issue a recall due to manufacturing defect. I expect the rear window & hatch to be expensive too.

Double bubble glass! I don't think this glass will ever have aftermarket parts. It is manufactured by very specialized glass maker in Japan.

Dude, get out of my mind! :D No, I don't have it yet, but my level of excitement is notable. While my 2010 is a great vehicle and I've done the whole 800+ miles on one tank thing, etc., I'm sort of ready for more. The 2017 has renewed my interest. Until you posted this, I was not quite able to put it into words. Thanks.

You are going to LOVE it! Never realized how lucky to be in the tri-state area and not have to order the car. The dealer I purchase from had 16 Primes on the lot.

Talking of insurance, I was presently surprised to find out my insurance premium did not jump that much when I switched from Gen3 to PRIME. Only $50 increase for 6 month coverage. I think this is probably because insurance company do not have data on PRIME yet. This may change soon. :(

I had a 1972 dark green Vega notch back that I bought for $1,400 and sold for about $400.

Compared to the central US, that's just wrong. :p I was fortunate that they had one already sold on the lot that I was able to sit in with it running for a hour or so.

I have been checking the dealers around me as well, they seem to be having no problem restocking their lot with new PRIMES either. When I rushed to purchase my new PRIME at the end of last month, then the final day of rebate but now extended till 9/5, the dealer had only Premium and Advanced, but now they are stocking Plus model. I wish I had chance to compare Premium and Plus. I am pretty sure I prefer cloth over softex, and 7 inch LED over 11.6 inch LED. That said, power seat with lower lumber support is great, 3 door SKS became must have, so now I don't know if I would be happier with Plus or not.(n)

My preferred dealer (in the Washington DC area) still does not list any Primes on their lot. I know they sell a lot of Prii.

CORRECTION: I just checked and they have an Advance Titanium Glow listed.

Really is pretty crazy. I know this is a "busy" area but still to have to order and wait is crazy when they are easy to get around here. That was just the one dealer and I know others in the area have at least 3 each. I have noticed mostly Premium and Advanced but there are definitely the Plus around. Besides mine the dealer I got it from had 3 more of the Plus.

The dealers here don't like it either.

I am sure they are getting orders and asked about it. At least if they had a few on the lot for people to check out then they could push them out for more inventory. Well you are almost there so learn all you can now so you are a pro when you get the car. I am going to spend my nights reading the Owner's manual haha

Come to NE. You will recoup the cost of flight easily and still have a lot of saving. It should be only two or three full tank of gas on your way home. ;)

No lot inventory of Primes, period. other Prius, lots, but not Primes. Ordered with deposit vehicles only. The dealer has to send a request (in my area) to Gulf States Toyota district sales manager with proof of a customer $500 deposit and signed buyers order to ASK and be APPROVED just to ORDER the vehicle. They said there was a small "issue" in some states with some dealers sending in faked orders just to get vehicles on the lot and that caused this more elaborate process. They had to prove I was a real customer. Toyota is picking and choosing WHERE these cars are being sold, even with demand in other areas. It's like nothing I've ever seen.

Enjoy reading through the manual(s). I've done it several times and see new things each time. Don't skip the little footnotes. They have a lot of important bits in them.

Don't think I haven't though of it many times. To heck with the $500 deposit. I'm gong to be in Boston in about 6 weeks. Who knows. Mine is scheduled to be built in the Sept run.
