I'm not sure why it's not working. The key fob buttons work just fine and I've also tested my 12 volt battery and it's also working correctly. I've also pressed the button right under the steering wheel and that didn't work neither. I have even replaced the key fob battery and that didn't work neither. Could it be that I need to program it?

Side note: It's a 2007 Prius that I recently bought for $2,400, I'm also wondering if it was a good deal or not. It's a clean title, with 191,000 on the odometer. The only problems it has is a front wheel bearing, A combination meter that seems to be on it's way out, and the steering wheel controls along with passenger windows not working. What do you guys think?

    welcome!

how many volts was the 12v, and how old is it?

did you only get one fob?

a good deal will be determined down the road.

    Thank you!

It was operating at 12-13v when shut off and 13-14v while the car was on.

those numbers are too loose. put a voltmeter on it after it has been off for a few hours. you need 12.4 or better.

Okay, I just tested it again and while off it was dipping from 12.3v to 12.1v. While it was on it dipped from 14.1v to 13.8v

you need a new 12v, might be the problem, might not. not sure why it would 'dip' if the car is off.

I think it might of been because I was applying my foot on the break? I noticed the voltage dropped when I did that.

And yeah, I only have one key fob.

yes, you want to test it with a volt meter after the car has been off a few hours. pop the hood and come back 3 or 4 hours later to check it at the jump point under the hood.

So I just discovered that I don't even have the sks/key button below my steering wheel. Does this mean that my base 2007 didn't come with the keyless entry or keyless start? I thought that was standard

no button no features, look at the back of the fob, if the Toyota logo is black its a non SKS car (base model)

Remote keyless entry (buttons on fob) was standard but Smart Key (proximity entry) was optional.

The key fob I was given seems like it was tampered with, the trunk button is the alarm, and there isn't a toyota emblem at all.

Well, that's a bummer. I guess I have a completely stripped base prius then.

btw, the previous owner apparently thought the prius was ugly lol, I love it though. Super sci-fi high tech feel inside the cabin.

Well that's obviously not a Prius fob (even though the shape is the same) cause there's the trunk release (maybe Camry?). But if you don't have the "SKS OFF" button, then it doesn't matter, you don't have SKS regardless of fob type.

there is no truck release on the remote, that is the panic button.. the outer case has been replaced.. you have a base model prius ..
