Saw a mention that there was a software update available for the 2017 Prime and tried to download it from the web page shown below. But clicking on the red button just triggers a Javascript web server error. I called Toyota Customer Service to report it, they confirmed the error and presumably they will be working to fix it as of 5pm on August 24 2017.

You do know that Java only works with Internet Explorer, all the other browsers have discontinued Java:coffee:

Safari on a Mac still allows Java.. but makes it some kind of an event to use it with a lot of security prompts.
Firefox as of my last update still supported it happily.
    Chrome wont' touch it.

Can someone please point me to the place in the manual that gives directions on how to update the unit?
    I appreciate your help.

Are we talking about Java or JavaScript in the browser? Other than the first four letters of their name, these are two totally unrelated things! JavaScript is is still alive and well. As mentioned by one poster, browsers are discontinuing support for embedded Java applications. The latest Firefox (54.x or later) dropped Java support, except on their Enterprise (ESR) version. Microsoft Edge (the successor to Internet Explorer on Windows 10) dropped it. Google Chrome dropped it. Microsoft Internet Explorer still supports it. I am not an Apple person, so I cannot talk about Safari.

If the Toyota update requires use of embedded Java, it is effectively useless.

Javascript and Java aren't the same thing, all browsers support javascript. Toyota's update page is javascript.

Java is not Javascript. They are 2 completely different things even though the names are confusingly similar.

These are the fixes for the 7" screen. The broken links are for the 11.6" MFD and you can't get to the download screen with the version details. I started a similar thread about the problem (which has nothing to do with your browser - it's on Toyota's end):

Software update just released for 11.6" head unit! | PriusChat
