Last week, I posted this on the site and many of you were good enough to comment:

I have a 2013 Prius 2. I took it in to get inspected, and the guy calls me and tells me it' going to fail inspection because the front pads are low. So I gave him the ok to replace the front pads. 15 minutes later, I remembered that I did NOT tell him to disconnect the hybrid battery. The job was half done by then. I call him and he says to me that he's done plenty of Prius brake jobs without the disconnect, and it never was a problem. I drove the car for 15 minutes after I picked it up, and it ran fine- no lights , codes, etc. and it was braking and charging normally. Of course I looked at the pads he replaced, and there was AT LEAST 1/4" of meat left on them. He claims the computer failed them. Anyway, should I expect future problems with the car because of any of this?
    Thanks for reading.

Since then, the car has been running normally. EXCEPT for one thing: in the past, when I approached the car with the fob, I used to hear that 5-second "whirring " electric sound, which I believe are the brakes resetting themselves electronically?
I haven't heard that sound since I had the brake job done. No lights, etc. but no whirring sound.
I hope that I don't have to take it in to the dealership for a diagnostic to be sure. The car is still under the dealership extended warranty, but they might see the changed after-market Raybestos brake pads and charge me for the visit.
Any advice? Again, thanks for reading and posting.

i doubt they'll see the pads, but something doesn't make sense. if the brake actuator isn't pressurizing the canister, the brakes shouldn't be working. could your imagination be running away with you?

The whirring sound requires you to open the driver's door, too. But guess you've done that too, so out of ideas. (n)

If you step on your brakes, you should hear the whirring noise. Never heard of hearing it while being next to the vehicle.

Well then what's that 5-second whizzing sound coming out out of the engine compartment now and then?

It's probably the abs system stabilizing, that's normal. There's also random noise in the passenger rear every now and then as well, I haven't looked into what it is but maybe later on. It's all normal noise. If there is any odd noises, you will get a CEL.

Well that sounds right NAB, but I'm not hearing it anymore. If something was screwy with the ABS, I'd get a light, right?
