We got our new to us 09 yesterday. The car has about 103,000 miles on her. Today I spent the day detailing it. Full of bugs and guts First I went to work on the engine bay. I sprayed WD40 on electrical connectors, then doused the engin in Meguiars (Megs) super degreaser at 10:1, let dwell for a few minutes, hit with various brushes, and rinsed with the fan setting on the hose nozzle. Dried and sprayed with Megs plastic and vynal coating. Next I restored the headlights After Next I washed with a regular two bucket wash Then a chemical decontamination, no fun pictures as there wasn't enough iron deposits on the paint to change color. Then I clayed the car. It had a few spots and lots of tar. Next step was to compound a few spots on the hood mirrors and door. I used Wolfgang Uber Compound Next onto polish though Wolfgang calls it total swirl remover. No pictures here Then to Wolfgang finishing glaze. Now the fun part sealant. Again Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant. The sealant takes 45 minutes to cure so while it was I applied DLux plastic coating on the headlights. The car was debadged, and a sticker applied. Interior was not bad, just a little dusty It is now cleaned, though I need to get the steamer out for a few spots on the carpet and seats. I just don't have the energy today. Trim rings on the wheels are also left off And nine hours later done.
Really nice job! Say I parked mine too near a job site and it was splattered with plastic cement. What would you try to remove it?? iPhone ?
Thank you, I would start with clay. You always want to do the least aggressive first. If that doesn't help move to a tar remover, it may just loosen it up enough to wash it off. It may take a lot of playing. The clear coat is less then the thickness of a post it note. You need to be careful about how much polishing and rubbing you do to not remove too much
Congrats, the car looks great. While I don't spend a lot of time with the mechanical related maintenance, I do spend a good chunk of time waxing and detailing my car. I'm under the Vegas sun so I go overboard with making sure my paint has a nice coat of wax. I have some trouble spots with scratches, like in your before photos. But I haven't been able to get them out, like you did. Is there any advice you can give someone for getting out the scratches?
You should install black clazzio leather seat covers. Make the car look amazing. Hopefully your car wasn't let to sit for long periods at a time. The mileage is great. But is bad for the Hybrid battery if the previous owners let it sit too long Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Wow. great job! I need to do that to my headlights as whatever the dealer I got mine from did is starting to wear off lol.
I coated mine with Dlux after I corrected them. I actually coated all of the trim. Should be good for a couple years.
I used a DA with a microfiber pad and compound to get the scratches out. Part of why it took so long, I spent time on that.
