Thanks for that. I was having trouble finding a video of it for a 2011. He actually gave me a pretty detailed explanation, though some went over my head. He mentioned there is a sensor that posts the warnings, that isn't getting the correct readings on the coolant because the water pump isn't doing what it's supposed to. I don't know why it isn't reporting that it's overheating, but that seems to fit how was acting.

You have no idea. It was worse than taxis from the beginning. Uber's only get inspected once a year, and it's not a mechanical inspection. It's mostly cosmetic. The background check, also yearly, misses all sorts of things. You either get a driver that doesn't know where they are going, that just picked you up on the way to get groceries for themselves, or you get a driver that drives their car like a taxi, without the benefit of a staff of mechanics on hand and a salvage yard in back. And lets not even talk about the insurance. If your driver has the bare minimum required by Uber, you might not be covered.

I drove a taxi for 8 years. These Uber drivers have no idea what's required to keep a transportation vehicle on the road, or the real cost of what they are doing. I'd hesitate to get into the car of someone willing to drive me for 10-20 cents a mile too, if they knew that's what the compensation was. And I wouldn't be doing it if it hadn't destroyed the business I was operating rather successfully, leaving me in a position I had to do something to make ends meet (this car).

the water pump for my 08 is 20 bucks on e bay with the gasket, yours cant be that much more.. the coolant is a special kind best bought from the dealer i think its 30 bucks and you might as well change the belt since has to come off anyway for another 12 bucks.. there are tons of videos on how to do it or the labor should be an hour at the most. BUT if you have a blown head gasket you are wasting your time.. sealants dont work , find a used motor on e bay locally or call the salvage yards..

id rather work at wal mart during the day and deliver pizza at night then drive for uber, god help you if you have a crash with someone in the car.. if you dont tell your insurance company you are using it as a taxi you will not be covered ..not worth the risk to your future.
