@bwilson4web, your hot link is to the June page, which had me really confused for a bit.

Reading the right page, the Sierra hybrid is 3300 year to date. Considering the news was that the 2016 model year was only to be 200 units, I wouldn't count out those sales being in the year to date to figure. Also can't discount now standard production schedules or sporadic GM reporting of numbers.

Then where is the Silverado eAssist numbers? It was supposedly going to be made in higher numbers than the GMC. Are we seeing the figures for both combined?

Either way, for a RWD only truck only being offered in just California in limited numbers as a test, it isn't bad, and might even be good.

Thanks for the catch on the link. It should be OK now. As for the numbers, I'm only reformatting what is in the Dashboard report.

Sometimes their numbers seem a little suspicious but I don't have independent data sources. Jeff Cobb's team does the 'heavy lifting' and I am grateful as heck.

Going with the assumption that the Sierra number includes the Silverado and 2016 sales, it is a nice number. GM planned for only 700 2016MY. 3300 total would mean more that 4 times that number have been sold in 18 months.

While just a mild hybrid system, it lets the V8 get the V6 model's EPA rating.

I was just looking at the bottom of the list, the soon be 'gone' cars, and noticed the BMW i8, a car that I laughed out loud when I first saw it in the show room. IMHO, a BMW gasser thought they could sprinkle 'hybrid dust' on it and be a success.

Fusion hybrid seems to be coming back to earth. RAV4 is the next Prius Killer?

I see them as being part of a Toyota continuum where efficient cars are available in multiple segments with the exception of pickups, pickups, and vans.

Is the BMW i8 Still Impressive?

It compared well to the timeless porsche 911 back in 2015. Its problem is not enough battery for 2017 and probably that quirkey choice of a 3 cylinder engine. Refresh is due out soon with more electric range, more horsepower, as well as a convertible. That is going to depress sales until the new carbon fiber/phev technology show case is available. It appears that they are sticking with a 3 cylinder instead of a 4. That is still a strange decision IMHO, still why invest a lot on a low volume sports car. The all electric version is due in 2022 with a major redesign, and rumored 300 mile (probably nedc) range.

Yesterday. thinking my Prius had a problem, I test drove the CRV 1.5T and the Rav4h. Much preferred the Honda interface, seats, room, transmission, noise level, etc. I was in the top of the line models for both. But if I wanted the Honda in a specific color and interior (white and white, not weird in the South) it would take 6 to 8 weeks even though the car was made Indiana.

Source: AD #2185 – Green Cars to Hit Milestone, Porsche’s U.S. SUV Sales Collapsing, How Land Rover’s Activity Key Works – Autoline Daily

    GREEN CARS TO HIT MILESTONE
Sales of hybrids, plug-in hybrids and battery electric cars are showing strength in the face of a slowdown in the U.S. market. So far this year the total market is down nearly 3% while sales of green cars are up 3%. In fact, green cars will hit a significant milestone this year because sales will easily top half a million vehicles, the first time that’s ever happened in the American market. When Tesla’s Model 3 becomes available in significant numbers those numbers will jump faster. As more EV models hit the market and prices come down, sales will continue to climb. In less than a decade, which is only two design cycles in automotive terms, sales of green cars should top a million units a year.

Of course some in the EPA are trying hard to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
