Welp, it happened - scraped up the side today. I don't have experience here and am trying to DIY. What part is that by the wheel?

That was my first thought -- can you find any parts that match? When I search for rear fender, the only results are for the rear bumper.

This website only has front fenders: Car ID (can't post link)
I've scoured here and can't seem to find anything that matches: Toyota parts estore (can't post link)

All you need is a replacement rear door, many junk yards have them.....for $100-$200. The other part can't be replaced......needs body work if you want it to be perfect again.

The dent won't come out but if you rub it with rubbing compound, you may be able to get all that white paint off.

The door opens and closes fine, but it's not flush. It appears that it's the other part that's dented and causing it to not be flush. Is this an area I can try to smooth out with a hair dryer?

The dent needs to be pulled out, area has to be sanded, filled, painted. What's a hair dryer going to do?

Back in high school kids used to use hair dryers to heat an area up and push dents back out. Not an option here?

Where are you going to push? Only way to properly fix this is through a body shop.

I had something similar when someone ran into the side of my car, it was $2500 to repair (there was slightly more damage). I would just get some rubbing compound and rub out the white paint. Then see if the results are acceptable. The dent doesn't look that bad and the door seal should still seal out water.

Shucks. That is a real bummer to hear. My parking garage is so small and all of these new, young people who moved into the fancy new condos race around each corner. I'm always bracing for a headon collision around every corner, but today I just took it too tight and scraped it myself against the pole :/ The water was my biggest concern.

You can test the water by spraying the area with water. See if it can get in the car.

If you have insurance, you can just pay the deductible and get it fixed. You don't have to say you did it.....it won't go against you
