Where are PriusChat servers?

    The last named router before http://www.priuschat.com for me is in Chicago. 13335.ch.eqinix.com is not a great name, but it is what I could find.

    It's in the "cloud" LOL, which is a bunch of servers sitting in a raised floor server room somewhere.

    1. If you "ping" priuschat.com you get 104.31.135.10

    2. nslookup for 104.31.135.10 resolves to:

    104.in-addr.arpa
    primary name server = bob.ns.cloudflare.com
    responsible mail addr = dns.cloudflare.com
    serial = 2025376857
    refresh = 10000 (2 hours 46 mins 40 secs)
    retry = 2400 (40 mins)
    expire = 604800 (7 days)
    default TTL = 3600 (1 hour)

    3. So, cloudflare.com is your answer and it's in California which is also where 104.31.135.10 resolves to.

    4. Also, if you do a whois domain lookup you get:

    The answer to "where is cloudflare located" is "many places" (there's a map). They are one of the so-called "content delivery networks" that a web site can contract with in order to reduce single points of failure and have short hops to visitors in many parts of the world.

    Of course, when it all goes ballistic, it's that much harder to know where the trouble is, too.

    This is why I said it resolved to Chicago FOR ME. With a CDN, (Content Delivery Network) it appears 'close' to everyone, or at least as close as the nearest point of presence of the CDN. Cloudflare also offers denial of service mitigation, so tech savvy diesel fanatics (that may be an oxymoron) can't bring Priuschat down.

    Yes, it is not a network error, all my down times say unexpected database error, as if anyone would plan database errors.

    I have also seen an unexpected error.
    When I am testing in a Lab setting, errors can be expected. - That's why we test.
    All Production errors are unexpected unless somebody is just incompetent!

    I first came to expect Database Errors on this site in the mornings (EST). :(

    Things got worse, and I then came to expect Database Errors in the evenings. :mad:

    Now I just expect them anytime I visit this site, and instead am pleased when a page simply loads as it should. :D Anything can have a silver lining if you get past the tarnish. (y)
