    Not strictly the same as the title of this thread, but we have a "Green cars only" parking area at work. For example, today there was an Insight, a Prius G3, a Civic Hybrid, a Ford Expedition, a Rav4 Hybrid, etc. Hmmm...one of these isn't the same as the others.

    Big enough, it could have had a diesel running on fryer grease.

    It was a sort of ugly tan color, like the color of burnt grease.

    Yesterday a full-size pickup pulled in taking up two parking places by the EVSE behind the drug store where I donated the equipment. The driver was at the loading door with a stack of packages so I drove around the block. A minute later, they were driving out the alley as I came around ... too late the take a photo. It was obvious just a short delay by a working driver.

    Well here's one for the books -
    No not this "diesel lover window sticker" Ford van illegally parked (they actually tow from this often crowded spot) ~

    You come to expect this from inconsiderates that have no issue blocking a person from getting home.

    He was here a while back, and got THIS warning, left on his windshield.

    It says Mercedes-Benz above the license plate.

    The Mirai owner probably got use to long refill times so figured plug in people wouldn't mind.

    Years ago someone posted a joke here on PC, about BMW's, stating that when you read the owner's manual - the cover is titled ;
    "Your New Car & the Road you Now Own"
    Today, I had to do a bunch of extra driving to do, & knew I needed to stop for at least a quick 10 minutes / 30 miles worth of DC charge. Pulled up by 1:20pm, & what do I find .... a BMW - not charging - just blocking;

    20170915_133527.jpg

    That person almost wrecked our afternoon. But after a quick measurement, I found a solution that worked. Seemed a bit adversarial, but oh well ;

    20170915_134000.jpg

    Almost wished we hadn't been pressed for time so we could wait & watch the owner's reaction .... but since we had to go, a citation was the best we could muster for this self-absorbed person.
    I love people (shaking head)

    During the last week in Rhode Island on three separate occasions, there were trucks parked in the some of the various EV charging stations I regularly visit. I just don’t understand it. How would people feel if we just started parking in front of gas pumps and then going to a movie or the shopping mall? (I know that station owners could have the vehicles towed; I’m just illustrating a point.)

    I just got mine and am generally going to charge it at home overnight, but I was wondering about charging station etiquette. If you're going to be parked much longer than it takes to charge should you come back and move your car?

    I am also developing an irrational fear of somebody stealing my charging cord.

    charging stations have their own cord, no need to worry. if the parking isn't close enough to allow someone to pull yours when done, and plug in theirs, you should move it.

    If at all possible, then yes. I've had two times when it just wasn't possible.

    Hi Anne,

    You’re not alone. It feels weird the first month or so when plugging in. As for moving your vehicle, yes, you should move it as soon as you’re able. It’s just the right thing to do and most of the time, the added movement is good for our bodies.

    I haven’t gotten lazy about it yet, but if I ever do I will remind myself about how bummed I would be if I pulled up and could not get a spot because it was blocked by vehicles that were not charging.

    Congrats on the new Prime!

    In general, one should move your car when charging is complete, but there are exceptions. Disneyland has dozens of charging stations in their main parking garage for the public, and when I asked, I was specifically told that you were not expected to move your car when charging was complete. That was your space for the day.

    By the way, the charging stations there are programmed to bill by the kwh, not time, so you don't get hit by a big fee for leaving your car connected all day. California has gotten rid of the screwball policy that requires charging stations that bill by the kwh to be regulated like electric utilities.
