Will The Last 2017 Prius v Leaving The Toyota Dealer's Lot Turn Off The Lights

I say @Prius Team needs to take note. They are the Toyota US marketing team.
Perhaps you should PM them too.

 

I found the Prius v to be a great taxi when I flew into Charlotte NC last year.

With just two adults and two dogs, the four seat Prime fully meets our needs. But my brother has a Prius v for his growing family, two adults and two kids including a recent baby. The fifth seat no doubt holds the usual baby bag. Oh well, there is the Ford C-MAX.

If you want the Prius v saved, you need more people buying it. Most would prefer the Rav4h though.
The Prius c will likely also disappear, but be replaced with a Yaris hybrid.

 

Why would they prefer a larger vehicle with worse mileage?
If they offer a 2WD RAV4h it may make a little more sense. The 4WD likely contributed to the worse fuel economy.
Perhaps bring back the RAV4 EV?

 

It is not just the v, the Kia Rondo is gone, the Mazda 5 is gone, none seems to be able to sell small station wagons to the American public.

Sad, I really like mine and will just have to drive it 20 years, like my last Toyota station wagon.

I was *seriously* interested in a v, but they didn't bring the 7-seat version to the US. So I bought a used Mazda5, which I plan to keep until I no longer need such a vehicle (i.e. until the kids are out of the house). The v they brought to the US served no useful purpose to me, and I wasn't going to give up 10mpg to get 50% more cargo space that I don't need. What I needed was butt space, not grocery space. Even my Prime has plenty of cargo space, as it turns out.

 

Good question. I don't know the answer but they do. My sister just moved from a v to a RAV4 hybrid. Her reasons? She wanted the SUV hybrid to begin with but they didn't have one in 2012 so she settled on a v. She did contemplate the CHR for a few seconds until I told her the hybrid isn't coming to the states. Their other car is Ford Escape hybrid. Also no longer for sale.

I really DID need cargo space, I drive over 90% of the time with the back seats down and if they had offered a version with no back seats I would have considered it. Good thing I am old and can plan on this being my last car.

 

My son went from a 2005 Gen 2 to a 2015 Prius v to get more space when taking his dogs to dog shows.Dog crates can use quite a bit of cargo space.

 

The next gen RAV4 should be out in about a year and will likely have the new Camry hybrid tech (plus the e4wd) which should get it 40 mpg or more. Given the popularity of SUVs, Toyota is probably making an appropriate marketing decision although I understand the disappointment of v lovers.

The RAV4 is barely larger than the v but it is heavier.

 

Yes, being old has it's benefits like easier financial planning. If I were immortal, I'd have to go back to work.

My next car could be my last.

 

They need a hybrid option without e4wd IMHO.

 

I forgot to mention the Pacifica plug-in. Of course it is a Chrysler product (and quality.) Having a 25 mi. Prius Prime, the +30 mile plug-in range of the Pacifica would be a delight.

I'm also a fan of wagons, but we're in the minority. Another excellent wagon that died an early death was the first generation Scion xB. It had the reliable 1NZ-FE engine and was very affordable. Toyota still sells the updated versions of the first gen xB (bB) overseas.

Good point, it's all about sales. In my town, I see a ton of Prii (2nd, 3rd, and 4th gens). I see a lot of c's, too. I don't see too many Prius v's, though.

The v was my first choice due to both looks and room- I thought it was the perfect car camping/ road trip vehicle that would double as a very versatile daily driver. But the v selection on the used car market was slim compared to the other Prius models. I figured it was because v owners were very happy and hanging onto their cars until a new model was introduced.

 

I'm starting to feel that way about our current 2010. I might be singing a different tune in 4~5 years, but I'm not that impressed with where the manufacturer's are going, and the roads just keep getting crazier around here.

Regarding "turn out the lights", the regular 4th gen Prius is like that up here, NONE on the lots: purchasers need to pre-order. I very occasionally see one around town, with about the same frequency as the Civic Hybrid (turns his head and spits).

 

I think I have seen more newer Civics here than Gen 4 Prius. No Primes either
