Would you recommend white or winter gray metallic for a 2014 Prius gen 3? I really like the Winter Gray but recently started falling for the White as well, just seems like I could get sick of white eventually, and itd be harder to take care of. What are all of your personal opinions?

We got (regular) silver because it was on the lot, model we wanted, just being opportunist. Grew to really like it, perfectly matches the rim colour (or wheel covers).

    Hello all,

My initial budget was around 13k, and I found a few 2014 Prius 2's- 3's in that range with only 55k miles or slightly more. Now if I could buy a cheaper Prius below my budget, with the same reliability, Id love to shoot for that even. I just want the best possible Prius my 13k budget can take me! I also dont want to go higher than 2014.

    Side Question:
    Winter Gray Metallic
    or
    White

I'd go grey since it still looks fine if it gets a little dirty.

My last Toyota (1993 Corolla, 292,000 miles - failed inspection because of rotten rocker-panels), was white, and my friend Craig (automobile expert) maintained that in his considerable experience white cars always corroded more than darker coloured cars since when they got wet, they took longer to, or never completely dried out, whereas those with darker colours tended to have less corrosion since they dry quicker! Craig had spent a lifetime in the auto industry. My 2009 Gen II is Magnetic Gray (1G3) - I love the colour! (…looks great, even when dirty!)

Either is fine. The white is a 3-coat pearlescent paint which, aside from being difficult to maintain, may also make touching up chips a bit more difficult. (Haven't had to do that yet on our Gen 4... knock on wood). Winter Grey is a bit dull in my opinion but it is easiest to keep clean. (That being said, at the reveal in 2009, Toyota had a Winter Grey Prius V with AT package and it looked good with the 17" rims and contrasting interior option).

If you're planning to mod, white is an easier colour to start from (e.g. you can black out the mirrors or if you have the solar roof model, black out the hatch and tint the rear window to get a continuous black roof look)

You're describing the Blizzard Pearl color/colour, but it could be Super White instead, which is a 2 coat paint (base coat and clear coat). ;)

I like both of those colors. And I also like the red color on the Prius. I just couldn't handle black with desert climate being so hot in the summer. My advice is to find the best possible car for you budget, with color being secondary.

Also, are you looking at a private party sale or from a dealer? You will be able to get a better deal from a private party, if you are patient, and if you can connect with a reputable hybrid mechanic to go over the car.

I thought Super White was only for fleet for the Gen 3. (Prius I/One mostly)
