Replacing cabin / air conditioning / pollen filter in Prius Prime

    Sid786 had asked me about the procedure to replace the cabin air filter in the Prime, so hear it is. It's pretty simple, and is the same process as the normal Prius models. The owner's manual suggests to inspect every 15,000 miles and to replace every 30,000 miles, assuming normal driving conditions but if you drive in dusty areas, you'll want to inspect more frequently. If there's any other videos people would like to see about DIY maintenance, let me know.

    The video was useful and helpful. I would suggest you experiment with a flashlight or some simple light if you want to show dark places like that.

    Thanks for the tip Washingtonian - still getting used to making videos. I purchased a small light stick that will hopefully come in handy for future videos, just waiting for it to come in now. If there's any videos you'd like to see, don't be afraid to ask, I'd be glad to film. I'm learning a lot more about my car since doing these.

    jpep11, I hear that the annual nav data card update is delayed from its expected release in December 2018 but should be at dealers soon. I am wondering how to remove and replace the navigation data card in my 2017 Prime Advanced model with the 11 inch screen. If you know or can figure that out, would appreciate a video showing that.

    I just modded a cabin air filter tray with knife, so I changed it with a great Mann FP 1919 Filter. It is not original for Prius Prime, but measurements are the same, except "lines" are just the opposite. in Europe it is 20,32eur on German Amazon.

    What advantage does this provide? Is the 1919 filter bigger, better, cheaper, more commonly available than the specified filter?

    WIX lists their WP10320 cabin air filter, and NAPA FIL230320, for our cars, about $30. Ebay lists Toyota filters for about $22 delivered.

    I wasn’t looking for a cheaper one. I was looking for a better filter that the one which came with a new car. I have a good experience with Mann or Mahle and I must say that when I touch the old and the new I feel the difference of the quality. The new one has three layers and more carbon and is much heavier compared to the old one. I would pay also €50+ for a good cabin filter but I must say this one serves me good enough. When I drive behind a truck with heavy gasses I smell none of it in the cabin now. Before it was much worse.

    Has anyone tried this? I’ve yet to find an aftermarket filter for the Gen 4 or Prime as the part numbers are all wrong (they’re Gen 3 filters)
