I think I got an alright deal for my Prius Prime in blizzard white + $248 floor mats + $209 side moldings + door edge guards = $30,672 MSRP

I don't like how Toyota are packaged with these "optional" equipment. I can't get the dealer to remove them, they can only search for one with less accessories.

So KBB quoted my 2016 Honda Accord touring in very good condition at $22.5k or excellent condition at $23.5

I got them to up it to $24,500 for my trade in. I consider my car to be in very good condition so an increase of $2000 in positive equity was a great start. The only roadblock I got into was trying to get them to go down on the price of the Prius Prime. After much back and forth, they were able go down to $30,318 which is about $350 off MSRP.

    Here is a rough breakdown

    $30,318
    -$24,500
    ----------
    $5,818
    + $509 Tax (8.75%)
+ $116 Dealer fees, title, registration, waste tire fee, etcs
    ----------
    $6443
    -$3000 Toyota Cash
    -$1100 NYS drive clean rebate
    -$750 College Grad
    -----------
    $1593 (Finance amount)
-$3000-3500 (Federal EV Tax credit based on tax liability)
    Profit: $1500-2000?

They were able to get a waiver on the minimum finance amount set by Toyota so that I would quality for the college grad credit.

I think so too! Once the car is in my driveway I'll probably feel better about the deal. I hate waiting.

I saw Gisele was front and center;).

The fog looked eerily similar to the air quality out here recently:eek:.

    $509 tax for a 30k car?

I might be mistaken since it's been at least 20 years since I traded in a car but are new veh sales taxes based on the trade-in difference (if applicable) in NY?

    Either way, great deal.

Yes, the difference is taxed. I'm surprised if that is not the case elsewhere considering NY is probably one of the most heavily taxed state in the union.

That is the reason why I was more focused on getting them to bump up my trade-in so that I would pay less sales tax. Plus they kept telling me that there are little to no mark ups on the Prius Prime.

That is a pretty sweet deal making a profit out of this buy.

I am trying for the the College Grad discount too, what did they want as proof to qualify for the discount?

Proof that you graduated within the last two years or will graduate within the next 6 months with an associate's degree or higher. Proof of residency, income, and no delinquent mark on credit report.

Supposedly it also gets you a good deal on the financing when using college graduate but I haven't seen my APR rate yet. My salesman went on vacation without warning me.

Yes, the tax agreements between Arizona and California are positioned that way. I believe I could have paid just a 6.6% tax (haven't confirmed though) if I paid $1000 for a dealer to ship it to me in AZ. This would have saved time, but not money after the shipping charge.

Hi everyone, just bought a silver prime advanced trim with moonstone interior. Wanted to share my info to help others. I'm located in southern california. Basically last nite, i emailed 50 dealerships in the LA/Orange county area along with a few in the bay area. Here are the best quotes I got for an advanced trim(before TTL & with rebates applied 1K in so cal, 1.5K in Nor cal)-

Toyota of San Francisco-$30,678 (didn't buy here because they didn't have silver with moonstone interior)
    Toyota Sunnyvale-$30,796
    Culver City Toyota $30,959
Carson Toyota $31,000 (Diane Whitmire's quote)

Also tried Autoland and Costco pricing. Autoland was horrible, rep could only get me a prime for $33,262. Costco dealer was $31,522.

Autonation Cerritos was willing to match Culver City's quote of $30959. I didn't buy there since the internet sales rep I was dealing with had an adversarial attitude. She thought I was faking these quotes above, stating these aren't average marketing pricing.

I ended up buying at Toyota Of Orange. Was comfortable with them since I bought a Prius C few years back here. Called my rep I dealt with before in the fleet dept. He matched culver citys quote of $30,959. Normally he said he would be able to beat a quote by a couple of hundred bucks ($30759), but couldn't this time because he had to do a trade with a sister dealership to get my exact model and color combo.

Happy with the purchase. Glad I got the advanced. JBL system is amazing. I think I got a decent deal with the info I read from previous post's here. Thanks again everyone. Hope my numbers here will help.
