Nice video, but no much details. I think they connected all the batteries in series, to achieve some high DC voltage, which was fed probably to the stock inverter, or to a modified one.
Challenge would be fixing the range problem.

No those batteries were probably all set up in parallel and the extra ones in the truck looked like they had an ECU/charge monitor setup. It's essentially exactly what I had suggested above. Basically the idea is to keep the voltage in the batteries above where it would normally call on the motor to begin charging under normal circumstances. Looks like they also removed as much of the ICE as they could to cut down on resistance while still keeping enough that the transaxle maintains it's functionality too.

Can we say the aux1 and aux2 packs are individually connected in parallel to the stock HV battery, or ? Or you meant all the aux1+2, battery modules were connected in modules, then wired up in parallel to the stock HV battery?

They look daisy chained as entire packs, you can see the main disconnects on the left of the photo.

Cool trick, but, as you said, not much info.

But the batteries would have to be parallel. Series would be over 600 volts and would smoke something for sure.

I think Hybrid Synergy Drive in all it's mass produced, mass consumer owned glory, is a beautiful thing, just the way it is.
