I commute daily into NYC from NJ. I pay for a monthly parking spot in the Pier 40 parking garage (for those that don't know the area, this is where the terrorist that mowed down 8 people on the bike lanes about a week ago in NYC started his rampage (I walk past a bunch of impromptu memorials every day)). To get in turn left on the west-side highway into the facility. The facility actually has BOTH a stoplight for walker and bikers across the opening so that people turning from the highway have right of way. Invariably, however, about 50% of the people just completely ignore the sign and walk in front of you like they own the world. I've had to stop short so many times I can't count because you think someone is stopping and they step out right in front of you regardless of right of way. Haven't had to rely on the TSS-P yet as I'm used to watching out, but I'm sure it will happen at some point.

Well, it is pretty loud, but you use it when you back up in Presby crowded areas, particularly shopping centers where the buffoons are transfixed somnambulists, hypnotized by their "Stupidphones". Otherwise, I have my hand at the ready in anticipation of these kamikaze lemmings blindly attempting to spatter body fluids etc. on my nice car!!

The horn on my UK "Prime" Excel is not at all anaemic.

Twin tone and nice and loud.

The tone is as you've described; it's just that compared to my previous cars, this car (all Toyotas?) requires considerable effort to activate, which slows down your multiple actions in an emergency!

My "Presbyterian Blaster" (no offense intended! My dad's version of this pun, in French, uses an unrelated, unmentionable term) is an added beeper installed under my Advanced, toward the rear, that I can manually trigger to alert peasants of my presence/motion. It has saved many a Presby life, while encouraging the other Bovines to, "Clear the road peasant, his highness is coming!!" (Blurb from KRLA radio DJ, Emperor Hudson). I call this "Active Safety". The thing works great!!

Need to include bicyclists too. Seen plenty around here that just ignore stop signs and lights.

As everyone here should know, Toyota is the basic line of the Toyota empire, and even the highest end Prius fits into that category. There are Lexus systems out there that have active IR projection with a night vision screen in the dash. This would have seen the guy on the skateboard or deer in the road, etc. What you see in the high end Lexus ranges makes it way to standard Lexus ranges, which makes it way to high end Toyota ranges, which makes it way to standard Toyota ranges.

Look at any new high end Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, or Porsche. All of them have an option for IR night vision. Some active, some passive, but it is all coming there. The future is here, but just not in the Prius. :(

    yet...

Mr. Mark57, that's taking the "Horn.." to a bit of an extreme!! I bet the driver probably gets an additional 10 horsepower when he engages it, and perhaps a cetacean audience in a body of water 1000 fathoms away might be startled!!. In my neighborhood, in spite of envious locals, he'd probably get arrested!!

…at times such as those makes me glad I fitted an "Wolo Bad Boy" (see threads passim) and also I retained the OEM "meep meep!" hornage-unit so as not to scare the s*** out of inattentive pedestrians etc. etc.

You want one, you know you do. ;) It would "almost" get through to the hapless cell phone user or the ear bud jogger.

You'd like to think it would; I'd hope it would make their laundry bill go up, especially as regards undertrousers!!
Ah, we old men have such simple pleasures!!

    .

I think there's an adage that goes something like this about what makes a man happy:
The young man looks for love.
The middle aged man seeks security.
The old man would just like to have a good bowel movement!
We males are such simple creatures!

Man, even laundry industry getting PC.
    HELP ME with my ISSUES!!
They are not magazines and hence cannot be issues!! One of my pet peeves: calling problems "issues"; I see a lot of that in the computer/IT racket!!
    Nothing against you Mr. WilDavis!
I even wrote a song about it called "PC", on my 9th album!
People are over the top with Political Correctness! Maybe that's why some politicians get into office: increasing frustration in some sectors with excessive PC.

    ...ah, "Political Correctness"

…here's one of my favourite pearls of wisdom from the late P. D. James - (From her BBC obit.)
In a 2009 speech she attacked what she called "the cult of political correctness," which, she said, actually raised barriers in society.
"If, in speaking to minorities we have to weigh every word in advance in case we, inadvertently, give offence, how can we be at ease with each other, celebrate our common humanity, our shared anxieties and aspirations." - an absolutely brilliant woman!!!

At Main and Hastings we have our "substance consumption sites"...

    For those "self-medicating"...

It no longer rains, now we have "rain events" (and "snow events", "wind events", and so on...)
