Just wondering if 2016 Prius 4 Touring wiper blade refresh is still a dealer only item. My local doesn't stock them, so they need to be ordered and the rain has started.

You shouldn't have to replace them after just 1 year

I've heard this before, but doesn't the manual suggest changing every 6 months or 1 year? I usually replace every year at the beginning of the rainy season in all my vehicles, although I will admit, the Prius wipers seem to be pretty good still...

You can get discounted Toyota wiper blade refills online from http://www.oempartsquick.com

Aftermarket products definitely won't work, tried Bosch Icon blades at Advance Auto Parts. Toyota changed the wiper arms, and there's no hook anymore.

The part numbering system seems a little odd. Perhaps @Elektroingenieur can help?

I posted the Toyota part numbers for wiper blade inserts in a previous thread:
In the same posting, I also listed some part numbers that were on the Bosch website at the time, which @bhtooefr also kindly reported were not compatible. Now Bosch doesn’t seem to list any compatible products for the front right, and they list a different number for the front left.

I’d just buy the Toyota inserts, which are relatively inexpensive, even at the list prices.

And the Toyota inserts are pretty easy to put in (the rear is the trickiest, and even it's not bad), and ultimately more environmentally friendly than replacing the whole blade assembly.

In my experience, a year is about right for the life of the rubber, at least on my outdoor-parked car. I went about 15 months and they were pretty bad.

Thank you for reposting the part numbers. The 8 in the second group for the right insert is what confused me. I guess there's no reason to be logical about it!

Thanks for that information. I ordered the blades from OEMPartsQuick but saw they wanted $24 for standard shipping. I promptly canceled the order and am getting them through the dealership. I hate it when a vendor charges me more for standard shipping than the item is worth, but that's just me...

I sometimes order dealer stuff (filters, mostly) from metrotoyotapartsnow.com. Sometimes ordering extra parts spreads out the shipping cost.

I would have choked on $24 shipping! I use Amazon Prime, which has spoiled me.

I agree. I use Prime a lot too. Sometimes either something is not available on Amazon or is priced way too high compared to other vendors.

My dealer finally got the wiper blade inserts in. One of them was backordered and took another week. I installed them with no tools other than my fingers in the parking lot. They fit well and definitely work better than the original ones, which had been leaving a streak on the windshield right in the middle of the driver's side field of view. In the meantime, I see that Trico has a replacement for the whole blade that promises to fit, so I ordered a couple of them to go "in stock", as well as a rear replacement. Altogether, I am a little concerned at how difficult it was go solve this simple, annual task. It required 3 trips to the dealership as well as a couple of phone calls and several search expeditions on the internet to find appropriate replacements.

I've never seen that. We're at 72K km's on our 2010, admittedly pretty low mileage, and garage stored: still on original wiper blades, they're just fine.

My OEM blades make too much noise. Any after market that are better?

Maybe the 'rubber' dried up and they have gone hard? Mine are still silent, even after two summers in our blazing sun.

I have PRIME that uses the same wiper blade as Gen4 Prius. I always keep spare wiper blades in my car for freezing rain emergency, even though my car has no spare tire. LOL I found out my old spare wiper blade from Gen 3 Prius did not fit on PRIME, so I quickly ordered them on-line. You can find discounted OEM parts from various dealers who does on-line sale. Although after adding shipping cost, it was about the same as buying at my local dealer at MSRP (they never give discount price on parts), but for me that saved 2 hours trip to the dealer.

This deler has prety good on-line parts price for TOYOTA OEM parts and reasonable shipping cost.

If you are happy with OEM wiper, you can pick up OEM wiper blade for about the same price as good aftermarket contour type wiper blade. It snap on to the arm, so easier than changing rubber in an emergency situation.

IMG_20180526_074631324.jpg I have owned a 2002 Prius. Had to get rid of it during a trans-oceanic move.
    I currently own both a 2014 Prius V and a 2016 Prius (4).
The 2016 is the first time I have ever encountered this particular problem.

I know exactly what problem you are talking about.
*SOME* of the 2016 apparently do not use a standard adapter. I at first was confused when I looked through the RainX guide and the 2016 wasn't listed. I went to 3 of my preferred popular auto specialty stores. We tore apart every brand of wiper blade replacement they had trying different adapters with each.

It took a lot of reading...a lot of back and forward on forms to get an answer.
THIS one is proprietary. I was surprised nobody posted pictures showing others who did not understand of what exactly the problem is.
I attached a picture of what the little ****er looks like.

I saw many people recommending many diff part numbers with no pictures of what they were ordering. I said to myself '***k it' and ordered one of each.

    The CORRECT PART:

I used this site but the OEM numbers are going to be the same anywhere you look.
    oempartsource

    85222-47130 (Driver Side)
    85212-47130 (Passenger Side)

$11/$9. They killed me with a $15 shipping...but after I confirmed it was the right part, I ordered 10 of each so hopefully I wouldn't deal with this c**p again.

You have a Prius four. You forgot the rear wiper. ;)
