Yea, they & other 'smart' biz investment soothsayers have been predicting Teslas' demise now for ~a ½ decade. Funny thing is - i wonder why the financial wizzards couldn't get a clue on the 2007 financial collapse. Of course many of 'em claimed to have seen it coming - after the fact. Crystal ball got a little clouded perhaps?
The bright side is, if/when you predict good/bad news long enough - eventually it may just come to fruition, whether good or bad .

I've been waiting for the mods to take this post out of the 'Environmental' sub-forum.

Execs of other car companies are heard bashing Tesla on a semi-regular basis, but their bias is harder to hide. ;)

Ya, they've been pretty regular bears over there at Seeking Alpha. On the Leaf Forum its amazing how many professional shorters come on and talk just non stop about how bad Tesla is in every way. Not the most ethical thing in the world, but at least they are putting there money where there mouth is. I've done the same, but long obviously.

Does he live out of the US? I haven't heard of anyone near that long unless you just got on the list AND you live out of the country.

Neighbor (south OC) has priority over us, due to owning a roadster. He didn't sign up for over a week after the initial deposit window opened. He said he just got moved back from this Dec to January. Roadster owners get priority even over current X & S owners. No matter how early non owners signed up, current owners jump in front of them.
that's odd, reading on the Tesla board, haven't heard of anyone other than Roadster owners near the front of the line that have received ANY delivery time details - other than that there are delays. Have to check again I guess.

Tesla must be advising future owners who have placed a deposit updates on delivery, don't you think? There must be away to check.

You could always show us a screen shot and give us proof. Otherwise most of us haven't heard anything even close to that.

A long wait might be possible, it really turns on how fast the ramp-up takes place. If the battery assembly tooling is the cause, & it's all worked out, things could speed up significantly in no time. All 3 of their prior iterations were slow to get to market. We'll see.
Meanwhile, in preparation for the model 3 ramp up, Tesla is building out even more infrastructure. Even though there are already several stopover supercharger locations between LA & San San Francisco, this monster is going to have 40 stalls, as well as being supplemented by battery backup & solar.

Sure would like to see that kind of infrastructure support by VW, GM, BMW, & Ford for the i3, Bolt, Focus, Etc - especially once the competition starts building their own 300+ mile plugins.

Delivery will vary widely depending upon when the first ramp up happens, and when the second leg of the ramp up happens.
My estimate for a small range RWD version is “early 2018”. A friend of mine who is not a current owner, in MN also has an estimate of “early 2018”.
Not sure if your friend just placed the order or not. If they got in at the end of the other half million people, 2019 doesn’t sound unreasonable.

Correct. I don't doubt the 2019. But two years from now is what I doubt.

Tesla's line is designed for 5000 cars/week. They aren't going to start installing the second line until they get to 5000 cars/week. As a first day reservation holder (3/31/16) all I have been given are vague estimates for general configurations:

First Production--310 mile range, rear wheel drive, premium upgrades $49000 Feb-Apr 2018
Standard Battery--220 mile range, rear wheel drive $35000 Mid 2018
Dual Motor all wheel drive choice of 220 or 310 mile range Oct-Dec 2018

If one believes the timeline on Tesla's page we should have pricing in January or February.

I do believe some reservation holders are looking at a 2 year delivery window and when I request the refund someone will move one step closer to the front of the line.

Look at the published financial statements. Listen to the earnings call or read the transcript. Their credit rating is junk. As long there are still people willing to stand in line to buy the next (annual) secondary Tesla will continue.

Bisco, why the wait? Sell a cash covered put for your strike price. The lowest strike price I see (with at least a reasonable bid) is $50 for the 1/18/19 expiration.

Really only one reason for a statement like that. Will let you be the judge of what you think that is.

Grab a calander. fyi, and as of today, November 11 ...... 2019 is in 1yr, 7wks, & a day - for all those needing to pick every single nit. And in 2 years, we'll just be about 7 weeks out from 2020 - not that it makes any difference. . (sigh) Sheesh. The unimportance of all this has been brought to you by one who has every reason to count every single day being close to retirement. And I'm not counting every single day.
