LOL. I'll try. What's your question?

    Pricilla,

I would be content to get any functionality out of the “Messages” button, but getting an email pop up notification strikes me as the Holy Grail.

Others have tried and failed in the quest.

I gave up on this feature entirely, and cannot even find a useful way to manage texts. Email through Siri is OK, but she tends to read the email header with all the numbers, and there is no good way to drill down to the email you want. Sending an email with Siri is a bit scary too — no good way to confirm she really understood the desired address correctly.

Eagerly waiting to hear how you make out!

Yikes! I haven't read the NAV manual enough to know that my friend, Nav Lady, could read email to me. I'd have to use IFTT to navigate Google Inbox so she'd read only the important ones, not all the promos, job postings, and other things I haven't yet programmed filters for in Gmail.

I like my NAV! I didn't have one on my Gen 2. I had bought a Garmin from Costco, but returned it when I bought my Gen 4. I'll see if I can find a microSD card on eBay in a few years, but it works well for me. I'd be lost without it, I'm a stranger in a strange land!

    ATHiker,
Here's what I think I've found out. My manuals may be slightly different than yours since my 4 Touring is 2017 with convenience package. In my manual it says functionality with messages and email appears to be dependent on your phone and carrier. I have an iPhone 7 plus with the latest ios update and the message function works for receiving and reading texts. I am unable to use the email function.

Looking at: https://www.toyota.com/content/entune/responsive/pdf/EntunePhoneCompatibilityList.pdf I see that there is great variability among different phones and service providers with Android seeming to do better than iPhones. In this pdf it doesn't mention email access at all so that's confusing since the head unit has that feature. If you want to wade through this pdf you might find your next phone. There is additional information to be found here: Toyota - Entune regarding phone compatibility.

I don't really see what the Entune app has to do with messages or email at all. It seems to be simply between the phone and head unit.

I was really hoping to deliver the holy grail to you. Sorry.
