The only thing I can see is the 11.6" HD MFD from the Prime is standard on Four and Four Touring.

The Safety Plus Packages are still a no cost option but technically not standard (must be a weird internal corporate thing)

Yes very strange about the Safety Plus package. I was certain they would have added listed it as 'standard' for 2018.

Should market forces change, it looks like it is easier to increase the price of the option than to increase the price of the car.

  6. And... still no heated steering wheel?

my first thought seeing the 11.6 inch screen was" good! with more cars using the crappy en-tune on the big screen maybe Toyota will update the software to fix the glitches and add android auto too."

Yet another sensor to pay for when the rear bumper gets hit. Not saying it's not a nice feature, but the cumulation of sensors on cars is really starting to add costs to car repair, which wasn't cheap to begin with.

Looks like it is a 5 seat car again :), I was thinking I would have to try a Hyundai or Honda hybrid on my next car. I saw that as a major step back going down to 4 seats.

These are pictures of the liftback which was never four seats. You are probably thinking of the Prime, which will most likely remain a 4 seater for 2018.

Not sure Toyota will go Android Auto anytime soon. After all, Toyota Connected is a partnership with Microsoft dealing with telematics and big data using Microsoft's Azure cloud services.

I wonder: would concerns about alienating customers trump corporate allegiances? Maybe yes, maybe no. Maybe it's just not practical anyway?

Full disclosure: I'm not even sure what Android Auto is. We have Bluetooth phone connect* on our 2010, and to play music off the phone employ a regular mini-jack.

    * Both my wife and I have our phones "recognized" by the car, but it seems it's incapable of rerouting incoming/outgoing calls to the car's speakers and buttons, from either phone, without the need to dive in, change the preferred phone.

In other words, if my phone is working with the car, my wife's wont be, even though it's recognized, registered, without diving into the menus, bringing my wife's phone to the fore, putting mine on the back burner. Is that the nature of the beast, or something that could be improved on?

It looks like the center console is now black with the black or beige softex interior. Still white shifter and steering wheel areas.

    Still no power seat memory.

Only 4 more years to gen 5.

I'm not sure: in interior picture 3 of 9, viewing from the side, you see the good ol' acres of white porcelain. OTOH, there's mention it's the "moonstone" interior. I'm starting to hate that word...

If you download the brochure, it states that the center console is black with the black or beige interior.

The 2018 Prius is the third year of Gen 4. I thought 2021 would likely be the start of Gen 5.

Basically Mendel, Android Auto and Apple Car Play are useful for mirroring a smartphone's screen onto the car's Head Unit, so your individual Nav app, or music app can be operated via the car's main screen.

Until you gentlemen started mentioning the fine china, I had no thoughts of the elegant products made by Toto Ltd. of Japan.

2018 is indeed the third year. That makes 2019 the 4th year, 2020 the 5th year and 2021 the 6th year. The last generation lasted 6 years. Following the same pattern, the next generation will start with the 2022 model year. Of course, Toyota could choose to go sooner or later than that.

I was kind of joking when when I made that comment. Who knows, maybe they will make more significant mid cycle changes for the 2019 model year.
