I currently have a 2010 Lancer. I drive a lot. I mean a lot for work. I need an affordable car with great gas milage. I am looking at the Prius 2 2017.

I like the dash, look of the car and the safety features.

I was quotes 23k for a 2017 Prius. Truecar tells.me 22120 is more in line with what others are paying. That isn't including tax.

This would be my 3rd Toyota as our family car is a highlander upgraded from a RAV4.

I was trying to get the car under 20k but not there yet.

Seeing as I don't have a car payment is the potential gas savings enough to make this worth a payment?

    welcome!
the car is fabulous and worth every cent. but gas savings is only relative to another car you might be looking at.
what shall we compare it to?

For every 100 miles you drive, you save 2.1 gallons, or about $5.

"a lot' does not allow me much more detail, if you drive 30,000 miles a year, it will save $1500, less than car payments.

See if you can find a certified 2017 Prius with only a few miles on it in your area. Hopefully you can find one with 2-3k mi. for around $17k

I looked. It might make sense to wait for the 18s.

you will save 3 gallons of gas per 100 miles traveled. idk how much gas costs in gilbert, but around here it's $2.50/g. that is $7.50/100 miles, or $75./1,000 miles.

over 'a lot of driving for work' = a savings of a lot of $$$ is possible. if your payment is $3-400. per month, you might break even, and the car would be free and clear after your payments were done.
of course, a lot of driving over that time might render its useful life over.

18's will be identicle to 17's and save you a couple thousand on the 17. Insist on an "Out the Door" price so that you can compare apples to apples at a couple of dealerships if you have more than one available. I got my '17 "OTD" for $24K 6 weeks ago.

I have a good deal going. 0 for 60 and talked then down on the price. I'm hedging to see if I put money down to lessen the payments.

final price you pay, or the total if you're financing. it includes every charge.
